Here's a question...lighting?

So I'm planning out my "club room" that's going into the basement of my house, as soon as I buy one. The one thing that I haven't figured out is the lighting.
I want to have a sick DMX system, with the DMX controller mounted at the DJ booth so I can have some control over it. But...I don't really know much about lighting...
Has anyone done anything like this? What sorts of combinations of lights did you use? |

| Well since your in a basement you dont need very powerfull lights or moving heads. I would go with some nice scanners... check out chauvet and martin. You will also want to get a fog/haze machine so you can see the lights easier. The haze machines are more expensive but they will layout a nice even haze in the room unlike the foggers which just blow out bursts of smoke which disappear quickly. A lot of people will rave out "centerpiece" effects but I would leave that up to you. If you can also swing it get a decent laser... nothing over 4.95mw though since the ceiling will be so low, dont want to have any lawsuits on your hand... They are pretty much all dmx compatible so you can make a nice show. One of my favorite shows with that kind of setup is turning you scanners blue and then doing a liquid sky effect with a green laser. Works real good during breakdowns. |

| Nice...just what I was looking for. Your mentioning moving heads....why would you want a moving head over a moving mirror type fixture? |

| Scanners and fixtures with barrel mirrors have a limited distance they can move. Most moving heads are very versatile and can pretty much pivot anywhere. |

you and fr3sh should get together to brainstorm your "club in a house" ideas :)
