[nerd rant]
It's part of the way hardcore has been going recently. It's been slowed down, and leans more towards more harsh and more abrasive industrial sounds, which is easily compatible with techno the way Sebastian has chosen it for this comp. It's also what Sebastian has chosen to do with his own sound as well as his own label. The so-called "file style" that he got reknowned for in the golden gabber days got buried for good after he released Promo Type 4, My Claim To Fame.
Personally I like the direction he has been going recently. Mixing the various harsh and abrasive influences works well with the aggressive, fierce energy hardcore is reknowned for, and certainly beats the out of newstyle or even some of the oldschool gabber releases if you ask me (not counting classic stuff from Mokum etc. of course).
