CAVE

Cave first started DJing in 1998 and has been playing activly in clubs and events since 1999. His music style has over the years developed into fast-paced tribalelemented techno, using 3 decks + effects as well as specialized productions only to be used in his dj sets to make the techno experience greater! In 2001 Cave started producing techno tracks following a first release on Ben Sims' label "Ingoma", a sublabel of Theory/Hardgroove. This release, named "Carne Levale EP", turned out to be a huge success throughout the world, with the track "Street Carnival" being played regularly by some of the best DJs within techno, names like Carl Cox, Chris Liebing, Adam Beyer, Ben Sims, Umek, Marco Bailey etc. aswell as more mainstream names like DJ Tiesto, Judge Jules and Mauro Picotto. Also Street Carnival has been named track of year 2003 by canadian technolegend Misstress Barbara and was the themesong for the huge party Innercity 2003 in Amsterdam.

Closesly following this success came remixes of the "Street Carnival" track by Ben Sims, Gary Martin and house-producerlegend Nick Holder which was out on the Ingoma imprint earlier this year, in addition to remixes from Max Walder of Street Carnival and a K.Cee remix of the track We So Krazy released november 2003. Making a follow up of the Carne Levale EP, his second release "The Carima EP" on the London based Hydrophonics label was released early 2004, featuring huge tracks like "Cave - Carima".
Since then Cave has done releases on many labels, like Intec, Primevil, Ingoma, Wet Musik, Real Sessions, GFR ++. Early 2005 the first release on Cave's new label Spilo Records was released with great success. The label will continue thru 2005 with huge artists like Ben Sims, Hertz, Marko Nastic, Bryan Cox, Felipe & Nicolas Bacher and many more.

These days Cave is touring the world with his dj-sets and the brand new live-act, having already visited countries like Japan, Brazil, Venezuela, Netherlands, Spain, Belgium ++ there are several more to go for 2005. Check out bookings section of this page for Cave's complete dj-schedule. The music from Caves productions reflects very much the style in his DJ sets, playing music with heavy beats and percussion on 3 decks to give the audience the best experience possible! Check out the demo-mix page for a taste of Cave's dj-sets, and the liveact demo to check out the new cave liveact.

I always am impressed with his quick mixing, but I consistently get bored of the track selection. 75% of it are artists on ignoma or sound like an artist on ignoma - that hard, tribally techno. For lack of a better description, i call it "mainstream techno."

He's even got the same track on there twice!

I'll still check it out though.:)

Altough I can appreciate the skills, (very impressive), this kind of quick mixing with 3-4 decks just get to a point where I wonder if it's even enjoyable. with all those tracks mashed up so quickly, some of them are bound to not work well together, and too much cutting makes me dizzy...

I guess I must really see this live to have a good opinion if I would have a hard time getting into it and really feel the flow, or just do anything else but watch him play.....

I have heard several Cave sets.. the first one was a bit weak on the mixing, and since then it seems he has improved.. but I always viewed him as a producer first, dj second anyway so my expectations weren't *too* high in that department. He is pretty young also.. 23 I think?

I'll check this mix out.. I agree the 'Ingoma' sound can get tiresome (for me at least) after about 15 min... about the same tolerance I have for the really hard german .

Nice to see Dejan producing too :D
"dejan milicevic - recon 6 [recon warriors]"

I would still eagerly go and hear him DJ if he came to town, and while I do find his mixes inspiring for working out with, I agree, once you get into really quick 3 deck mixing, it has to be done SO well, with SO much precision for me to enjoy it. Sometimes I think even Jeff Mills needs to go back to two, because he can make 3 sound really really painful sometimes.

Ben Sims however...
