Heya! I know not everyone here always spins live and stuff, despite the glamour....many of you probably have a home studio of some sort set up to get stuff done, right?

I was wonderng, what were you using as monitor speakers there?

Now, there's one thing that is WELL on my to-buy list! LOL!!

It is THESE!

we have tannoy monitors at the radio station.... mmm... the sound quality is insane, they're so clear and perfect... it's almost illegal

I prefer to use headphones, I use my MoS DJ1001 cans.

I use my headphons, since I'm allways composing in the middle of the night.

Uh, I am going off of second-hand knowledge, isn't using primarily headphones ok if you are doing it live, but if you are, like, making a mix the slow/long way, don't you need, like, multiple sources from which to hear your mix?

i don't like those speakers u are trying to buy, the reason is that the frequency response that they have is 55-18000....and a human ear can hear 20-20000 which means this speaker won't fill in all the frequencies that a human could hear. And there is a big lack of sound between 20 and 55hz (those are your low frequencies like drums and such).
Also for the 18000hz, while producing music u want to head clear crystal sound, now when u turn up the volume towards the max you will not get a clear crystal with 18000hz because it will create distortion and you don't want that. That is why some speakers are made past 20000hz, like up to 35000hz...with that when u turn up your volume you get clear sounds at 20000hz and u get distortion at, lets say, 25000hz..and that distortion won't matter to your since u will not hear it anyway......
i don't know if u follow me or not but to make it short: if a small number is around 20 its good and if a big number is 20000 or more its good :) ......anyway, thats my opinion on those speakers

as for myself, while producing i use my sony 7505 headphones

Uh, actually, they can, they just aren't 'rated' to...

Written freq. response means nothing, dude....they DO get lower....

And here are the ratings, out of 100, that that review gave them...

Sub-bass (10 Hz - 60 Hz)
75

Mid-bass (80 Hz - 200 Hz)
90

And besides, I've never heard Trance with music htat low; the bass is mostly a lot higher... midbass....

Hell, you all do fine with the MDR-V600's, which don't have any sub-bass....

Ack! And the MDR-7505's? Geez, that's the V600's drivers, and the V500's shell! Works better than either the v600 or v500 alone, but still isn't great, doesn't get that subbass.... get the 7506, which is the V6!

COPIED FROM A FRIEND'S POST"****, each of the MDR-750# series of headphones is different from each other. The 7502 uses the shell of the old MDR-V2, but uses MDR-V200 drivers. The MDR-7505 is a DJ headphone that uses the shell of the MDR-V500DJ, but uses drivers of the "old" (1996-2000) MDR-CD570. (My bad for calling the MDR-7505's a combination of the crappy MDR-V500DJ and MDR-V600.) The MDR-7506 and MDR-7509 are the MDR-V6 and MDR-V900, respectively, with what Gluegun calls "a better paint job".

As for the sound quality, definitely scratch out the MDR-7502, and you may want to scratch out the 7509 as well. (The former sounds almost as bad as stock headphones bundled with personal stereo equipment; the latter is WAY overpriced for the mediocre performance that you get.) As for the 7505 and 7506, the 7506 is VERY familiar to MDR-V6 owners, while the 7505 is a bit tighter-sounding than the MDR-CD570 that the 7505's drivers are based on. (BTW, the MDR-CD570 was a decent set of headphones for under $70, certainly way better than the crappy MDR-V600, though you can buy better headphones for the price.) "

END COPYING FROM FRIEND'S POST

DJ technique, you haven't ever played with a sine wave generator, have you? Figured out how high and low these sounds actually ARE?

Cause, like, the stuff you're saying.... it don't matter! :) Trust me, LOL!

if you are looking for sound quality i think it matters a lot.
your friend should do some research too since 7505 are not DJ headphones
