Hi there, Haven't been posting for a while, computer is a piece of ... I am not particularly fond of facing it...

Well, I am off to Japan on Saturday for a 4 week sponsored trip by my work... GOOD !!! I am going to Nagoya. Oguchi-cha. TOyota CIty etc. THe world Expo is also being held there this year. FLying Cathay pacific and stopping in hong kong aswell.

Question:
Aren't cameras supposed to be cheaper in Japan? I want to buy a camera if I get there... I was thinking a sony DSC-F828, then I go on a Japanese website, can't read a bloody thing, see the camera and there are 2 prices.. 160 000 yen and 168 000 yen... That camera is almost $200 cheaper HERE??? WTF? Maybe I'm just mistaken? Cause on USA websites they are even cheaper.

I see also THe Canon eos D300 is called the Kiss 7 I can't find the price of that anywhere though neither the D20 or any canon camera.

------

I think Japan is going to be a kick ass trip... can't wait! I think I'll also pick up a sushi or prawn memory stick.

Anyhone have any Ideas of what is good to do in Japan and what is good to buy there that you get no where else?

I'm also getting myself a pair of Sony MDR 7056 headphones. Can't find them in this country.

Arigato!

i'm jealous! check out the karaoke bars obviously and the panchinko parlors are fun too. i love japan and i think i might be going back there this december with my mom. i have a rich cousin who is an executive at xerox so he goes to japan on business trips all the time and gave my mom a free ticket there...he's working on getting one for me too, so i can go with her.

i lived there for 2 years but that was like 7 years ago....electronics are expensive there actually. i'm sure it's different now, but the average household in japan doesn't even have a washer/dryer...u'd think they'd have all these high tech things in the houses, but they don't really.

everyone holds up peace signs too for pictures...haha they love that.

i'm not sure where those cities are you listed, but i was near hiroshima and i used to go to Kokura a lot on the shin kansen (bullet train) with my mom every weekend and Kobe was the other big city i went to for a tennis tournament i was in...that city was ing awesome!!

u are soooooooo lucky! oh and PM Blueocean88 (miki) she is a very cool chick and she lives in tokyo, i'm sure she can give you more info about the cameras and the yen rates n stuff.

Check out www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi for exchange rates.

In regards to electronics pricing it's really not in your favor for the most part anymore. You could possibly find some deals but you'd really really have to look around.
What's the best over there right now is getting the electronic stuff in advance when it's going to hit North America but that's really been the case for a large number of years.

From my searches I've found things to be very rarely cheaper over there.

Good luck.

I'm not sure if the cities you're citing are on here but check in case : www.superfuture.com for dope places to go to.

I forgot you have to keep in mind how bad the dollar is right now ( thanks mister Bush ) so that goes for a lot. in case you didn't know!;)

What kind of knives? If it's swords, expect to pay A LOT for anything decent. Cheaper kinds you might as well buy here. Useless, of course, if you're looking for some historical pieces. Not sure about the laws with transporting weapons from Japan to the US...

I heard Japan is very cool. Alot of history there.

BTW, where this shirt while your there & sew an American flag on the back.
