I was wondering does an AMD 64bit CPU offer better performance than an intel 32bit CPU ????
I dont own 1 but maybe someone can share their experinces with us

I read an article in Future Music about 64 bit production and the general consensus was that developers need to write the applications capable of utilising the extra bandwidth. All the major sequencers support 64bit I think but not many VSTs or soundcard drivers do, so it might be a while yet before its a worthwhile investment. Having said that in 12 months or less, the only processors available will be 64 bit ones, so its not like we will have much choice with future upgrades. =)

nothing now BUT sonar is updating first to 64 bits and promises 20-30% more speed/capasity

yes, it does, but not because it is 64 bit. to completely utilize 64bit power, you need to use 64bit operating system (windows 64 is still in beta), 64 bit drivers for your hardware, and 64bit applications (hosts, virtual plugins and instruments, etc.). i own an athlon64 2800+, and it kicks ass out of my friend's p4 2600, and is also considerably faster than my old athlon xp 2200.
