I sure hope this is the right regional forum, please point me in the right direction if its not.
I'm thinking of applying internationally next year for PhDs, and one well respected lab in my area of interest is at the University of Arizona in Tuscon.
So, I was wondering, whats Tuscon like to live in, is there much nightlife etc, is it far from other major cities. (and what are the birds like?)
Also, anyone who goes to the U of Arizona, whats it like? And if you live on campus is it any good?
Anything else I should know?
Cheerio, and thanks in advance! |

My friends are in grad school at Tucson.
Tucson is quite hot, in the 100s during the summer. If you don't like heat, it's not for you. Housing is pretty cheap there for the US.
They complain there's not much electronic nightlife there.
The closest major city is Phoenix, then El Paso. |

Although El Paso isn't really a major city, more of a hole. (love you Edie)
Nutter - I know sweet fuck all about Arizona mate, but as a fellow carnt from .au, if you are half decent you'll have no problem with the birds. They love the accent and the best part is you have an excuse to swear your off 24/7. |
