Recently I went to Mexico, to the Mayan Riviera, had an amazing time.
When I was in the A La Carte Restaurants, I noticed they were playing a really nice style of music.
I will try to describe it as best as I can.
1) ambient? or soft chillout
2) spanish influence, actually it seemed like it was spanish or italian music, seeing as how I was in an italian restaurant.
3) no vocals or just a bit of angelic vocals, haunting.
4) spanish guitar, other spanish instruments some piano,
5) ambient yet jazzy at times, but very chill, lots of nature sounds too, like chicane used in his earlier works.
6) felt like you were chillin on the beach
All in all, incredible chill music, really nice to listen to and relax, and well produced...I do believe I heard a break beat in there as well, but that could just be a dream :D
If anyone knows any artists, producers, or cd's that match this please let me know.
Thanks in Advance.
Please do not post trance chillout cd's, I have them, this was different. |

yeah maybe try Gilles Peterson in Brazil, the CD 2.
Although the vocals are sometimes well present in some tracks so I don't know if it fits your description that well |

hmmm.. maybe some acid jazz ? This is Skalpel (Ninja Tune)
http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?what=R&obid=243405
Other tunes:
Cinematic Orchestra - Awakening of a Woman ---> (after 6 min is orgasmic, maybe a bit of a downer, but beautiful none the less)
Talvin Singh - Traveller (Kid loco mix)
Colleen - Everyone alive wants answers ---> Beautiful, chilling mandolin.
Tosca - Gute Laune
Tosca - Honey (Supatone 1 dub)
I thought there was a St. Etienne version of Kid Loco's "Love Me Sweet" but I can't find it... DON'T get his version!
& of course any Thievery Corporation.
Enjoy! I've been listening to alot of this lately because of the stormy weather here... so yummy and chill.
:p
OMG. HOW could I forget my ultimate fave:
Thievery Corporation's "Lebanese Blonde" !!! DEFINATE ethnic touch there!! |

Flanger - Endless Summer :eyes: :eyes:
Groove Armada - Fly me to the moon is nice as well. I always thought Groove Armada was cheese for some reason.
Amon Tobin's "Permutation" album is a bit more jazzy than his others.
Also, Xploding Plastix are fun. |

Yeah, I'd also say Acid Jazz. It's the only thing that comes to my mind ... ambient is too calm...
But not something like Thievery Corporation - Lebanese Blonde ... it's a superb tune, but it might be not what you're looking for.
When you want it calm, try Le Monde, Universal Highness, So Vast As The Sky, Shadows Of Ourselves...
Hmmm ... but wait, that's actually not the music for a spanish restaurant...
Maybe you should try something like Enigma too? Enigma is good.
Or something like Banco De Gaia - Desert Wind?
I'm sorry, I don't know. Hope to have delivered some good inputs though ;) |
