Currently i'm using reason 2.5 ( wont be upgrading anytime soon ).
I also have
*waves
*Sound forge
*T-racks
I can't use waves or soundforge yet cause im running windows ME :(
What software or hardware do you recommend for me? i've been using reason for around 6 months...
I'm still using my mouse to program in my keys, at what time would be a good time to invest in a midi keboard?
Any tips for a begginer much appriciated too! :) |

Get Windows XP from the same place you got the VERY expensive Waves, T-Racks, Reason 2.5 and Sound Forge.
PS: Those programs are all you'll ever need for at least 3 years. What Waves bundle do you have? |

| Logic is one of the best sequencers (if not the very best) for external hardware. And virtually everything else you said was shameful. lol. |

Umm, is that a joke what was written before (2 up), or just extremely il-informed. I don't think I've heard such rubbish. No offense mate, but buying an MC-909 to run with Cubase is the biggest waste of money I have ever heard of. The Nord is okay, but you've already admitted that the 909 is a pain in the ass to attempt to run alongside a DAW.
As for everything sounding the same, maybe if you stopped using the presets and actually attempted to program a synth, then it won't all sound the same.
And Logic is not a a piece of program, its hi end. If you want to blow your money on a 909, at least get a TR-909.
To answer the question, stick with reason. You can using Sound Forge and Waves to try mastering your tracks at least and get some practise in there using decent plugins.
I would say the two things you should look at would be
1 - A decent sound card
2 - A midi controller.
3 - Some "decent" (budget dependant)active monitors |

| quote: | | So if you really want to go pro some day then Fruityloops or Logic aren't enough. |
If you think Logic isn't pro than You must have been living under a rock or something. Do You honestly think that all pro's use Cubase?
| quote: | | What Cubase VST and Fruityloops have in common is the VST ability, so you can get a very large range of effects, virtual instruments(usualy synths), wich is good. But yet again these are used by milions of other producers. |
I am a cubase user with hardware synths, and vsti's. My response to the above is this: Logic has vsti instruments as well, and you can even run it as a front end for your pro tools ( can you get any more pro than this?) Do you know what pro tools are?
Well if you think vsti instruments are uses by everyone and it's bad, you'd be suprized how many people have access, clavia, roland, korg, moog, yamaha and other hardware synths.
I suggest nhibberd, You get yourself a music magazine such as SOS, Future Music, or Computer music, and start reading. There is a lot of stuff you need to catch up with. My intentions are not to offend You, but it looks like You're missinformed, or little behind when it comes to music technology my friend.. |
