Fundacion Wrap Party @ Le Souk Review 6/4/2005

The after party was decent. Some dj (I forget his name) opened with funky lounge style beats. Then came Gabby from Astroglyde. He was generic, building off of the last djs rhythm into something a bit harder. Mr. Cusick then proceeded to destroy us with an array of sick record, mainly harder progressive with funky breakdowns. After Sean Dj Three took over the decks. He really knows how to work a crowd. By this time the crack heads were passing out (12:30 pm). Three took Gabbys generic house and formed it into a deeper darker sound. The only Dj I can compare him to is Sasha pre 2000 (when he knew what he was doing) Three kept things rolling till 2:30. At this time Sandra Collins stumbles in a bit under the influence. Her style really has changed. She has been sucked into the disgusting abyss of funky minimalist garbage that most "POPular" dj's now play. It really put a damper on the night. A couple of people I was chilling with were expecting harder or uplifting. Some kind of change. Well change she did. Opened with a vocal beaky house track and worked it another... and another... and another ... and another (get the point / set went no where  ) And I have a feeling the dj gods in edm heaven weren't pleased either. Her amp blew out twice :stongue: The first outage lasted 10 minutes and the second pretty much ended her set (3:30pm). For the final track of the night she played the something that sounded like the first track and the second track and the third track ......

Obviously the information stated here is of my opinion. Maybe some of you would have enjoyed what I didn't.

Le Souk is very pleasing to the eye. The decor and vibe gives it an Ibiza feeling. I would highly recommend going there for a night out. They operate during the day as a restaurant. I didn't get a chance to try their food but I’m told it's great.

he played dc at nite, that doesn't mean he was there (unless u know he was). the wrap up took place just 45 minutes after he ended at crobar ay 7 15, so he couldve been there at 8 am for some time... and it ended at 4 pm. dc takes no time to get to from nyc! howveer sleep would be nice i suppose even for people like sasha!

i just thought its silly that there was this industry-type-event-thing for sasha with him not even attending. anyway, my interest was solely whether or not i missed some one of a kind sasha experience at the after party, and i'm glad i did not.

Sasha never showed up. He was supposed to be there (his dad's wedding reception was there) but was sick. He got sick Thursday night in Philly, played a short set, then played NYC Friday night and his body couldnt handle any more.

He was sleeping at his NYC apartment and then going to DC for his show Sat night.
