In my memory - DJ Tiesto
View this Thread in Original format

featuring Nicola Hitchcock

This is a remake isn't it? Does anyone know what the original was called and by whom?

Thanks
tactik
Info on Discogs says that it's written and produced by DJ Tiësto and Nicola Hitchcock. But of course that could be wrong.

that last bit..."face me, sitting in my memory, hold me, i remember" it sounds very familiar - i'm pretty sure its from a pop song
tactik
That's probably because the lyrics (like most vocal trance lyrics) are so full of clichés that every word is familiar. ;)

EDIT: Checked on AllMusic.com and there it states that it's composed by Nicola Hitchand Tiësto. I doubt that they have the wrong facts there.

Don't quote me on this but i think it was originally Nicola's (who is best known for being the singer of Mandalay) own production and Tiësto liked it so much he wanted to remix it for the 'In My Memory' album. So i believe it is a remake after all. Here's a quote from one of many Nicola related sites, if it does help:

After Mandalay's demise, Nicola's song writing and vocal talents were sought by DJ Tiesto who chose her song "In My Memory" for his forthcoming album. With a deft remix from him, it became the title track and lead single for the album, the success of which led to a live performance by Nicola at the Dutch Music Awards in 2002.

Ohhhh yes ;)!

has there ever been a decent extended mix of that track? I've only ever heard the album version. It's one of my favorites, but the album version would be useless to mix with!

Nope, don't think so. If you want to do that, go with the remixes then. You have 3 mixes by L-Vee (Airwave, Airwave Instrumental & V-One), G&D Mix and Fade Mix to choose from. I have never seen a longer version of the original mix.

9 times out of 10 I hate any electronic music with vocals, unless of course it's one word samples like "" "KILL"

and a few neat phrases

i used to like In My Memory, but only the Gabriel and Dresden remix

now it's in the "meh" section

that would be definitely a wicked tune to sing at Tiesto's funeral. Can't wait!
