Thank all of you guys, I appreciate your advices, an di think i learn form them.
today when playing in home , i change my way way of djing, just concentrating on music, and i wa ssurprised, i improvise good transitions, not all of course, but alot seemed to fit together.
My problem is that sometimes I look for perfection, and I try to make mixes that can be at the level of the great dj's.
but just now i take away that perfection feeling, and things just flow together, i thin its very stressfull to bne thinking this gonna be right or not sometimes.
As i know a lot of songs in my head, i do get to listen music all hours of day, int he car, home, when takign a bath, i wake up with music, even sleep with music. I know this is not normal, but i think i could take all of this years spendign listening to music, and show them to people.
My Goal is to be able to play fluid, without any plans, that how i can show myself, and its more natural feeling i think, When eveything its planned its makes you feel a little robotic, and djing its not so fun.
By the time i Achieve this, then I Will play for crowds.
Again, Thanks to everyone:crazy: |

Sounds good man, your doing the right thing, as for looking for perfection, it will take years but you always wanna try your best, don't stress over it, have fun and see what you can pull off.
Keep the record spinning:D |

| Just for the record, I remember hearing on an interview with Armin van Buuren (on ets-global I think) that he (and a load of sound engineers) planned his A State Of Trance radio show sets, checked all the transitions worked and all that. Not sure if he actually rehersed it, but he sure as hell prepared ;) |

| There is nothing wrong is being prepared. Some DJ's like to follow the crowd and some DJ's like to lead the crowd in another direction. Its upto you. |

| well i do have a rough plan of what i'm gonna play...but i do not follow strictly to that plan...if the crowd doesn't seem to respond well to what i'm playing i'll just look for another track which might get them going...but if all's going well..i'll follow the tracks i came up with in my rough plan... |

Great Idea. I would not see anything wrong with that. |

Well.. since its a radio show, he has no real audience to follow and to read.. So why not plan your sets to perfection in a situation like that :) |

yeah that does make sense b/c asot is not played in front of a "direct" audience... it is a radio show if i am not mistaken
and because it has created such a following with a certain type of listener... they need to maintain that level of quality in the set
he is not crowd reading in the literal sense... i suppose he knows his "crowd", what they want and how to deliver |

| after playin out for a few weeks i started to put the songs that i found realy mixed nice together... so they started to be grouped in 2-3 records and it would progress from the front of the bag, prog, into the mid of the bag, deep prog to trance, hard trance etc. so i could go to any section of the bag depending on what the crowd was feeling and mix the "groups" of records with each other. i found thins worked real nice because i could make the mixes a lot longer without running back to find a track that would go good with the current one etc. then swich up the groups with new tracks etc. 3-4hr sets were no problem. |

| i for one mix better not planning my set, why? couse i just get that dj'ing mood when i dont plan it, like.. oh yea.. im good, whenever i plan it.. i get bored like crazy, so my mixing stinks, when im not into the mixing, i stink! |

| If you know every vinyl by heart, there wouldn't be any problem improvising. But it's always a good idea to have a tracklist ready, but always be ready to change it. I wouldn't go as far as to acctually practice a certain set, if I'm not making a compilation CD or demo, but yeah you should always know how to mix from any track to any track in you collection. |
