Edge 102 track
View this Thread in Original format
Blue.
I'm looking for a track that's been played fairly recently on edge (last month or two). It's a very mellow track with a female vocalist.

Any ideas?

Artist: Kylie Minogue
Song: Locomotion

Everybody's doin' a brand new dance now
(C'mon baby do the loco-motion)
I know you'll get to like it
If you give it a chance now
(C'mon baby do the loco-motion)
My little baby sister can do it with ease
It's easier than learning your a b c's
So come on, come on,
Do the loco-motion with me

You gotta swing your hips now
Come on baby, jump up, hmmm jump back
Oh well I think you got the knack

Now that you can do it
Let's make a chain now
(C'mon baby do the loco-motion)
Chug-a chug-a motion like a railway train now
(C'mon baby do the loco-motion)
Do it nice and easy now don't lose control
A little bit of rhythm and a lot of soul
So come on, come on,
Do the loco-motion with me
You gotta swing your hips now
Come on, come on,
Do the loco-motion with me
Yeah

Chug chug (sampling)

Move around the floor in a loco-motion
(C'mon baby do the loco-motion)
Do it holding hands if you got the notion
(C'mon baby do the loco-motion)
There's never been a dance that's so easy to do
It even makes you happy
When you're feeling blue
So come on come on do the loco-motion with me
You gotta swing your hips now

Come on, come on,
Do the loco-motion with me
Yeah
Come on, come on,
Do the loco-motion with me
You gotta swing your hips now
Blue.
THATS IT!

I am pretty sure that it has to be the Stars. Ageless Beauty is getting quite a bit of play on CFNY right now. Amy Millan is the female vocalist who, believe it or not, sounds even more angelic live. You may have heard her before as she also lends her vocals to Broken Social Scene. (who some of us older kids might remember;)). Torquil Campbell is an incredible frontman for the Stars who compliments Amy's voice perfectly. We discovered the Stars over a year ago when I heard their "Heart" album. The perfect harmony between the 2 singers reminded me of the wonderful old Beautiful South days. :)

Both their albums "Heart" and "Set yourself on Fire" are wonderful. Was lucky enough to catch them the last 2 times they came thru town and both shows were incredible. Live horns, incredible performers and unbelievable live vocals.

Here is their website:

Looks like both bands are coming back thru Southern Ontario this summer. Not sure how their sounds will translate in an outdoor venue though.

Stars: Saturday July 23, 2005 Guelph, ON Hillside Festival

Broken Social Scene: Sunday June 26, 2005 Toronto, ON Toronto Island w/ Modest Mouse, Do Make Say Think and friends

The first one I checked yesterday was Stars - Ageless Beauty but it gave me a song with some dude singing so I assumed it was fake. I went and downloaded the album off BT and got the same thing so I assumed that it wasn't the song I was looking for.

Then today on edge I hear it and they do in fact say it's the Stars track, ing internet.

My friends and I will most likely be hitting up this show. The concerts on the Island are always good fun.
