Good thing he turned down Oakenfold's 10 year deal and did things on his own terms... |
hah what?
This is the first time I've heard of this so-called exclusivity to Perfecto? Are you sure about this? |

This is the first time I've heard of this so-called exclusivity to Perfecto? Are you sure about this? |
Very sure.
| quote: | While his music has captured the attention of Paul Oakenfold, having toured with the U.K. mastermind, Graham is inclined to stand on his own, having turned down a high-profile residency and six-record deal with Oakenfold's Perfecto label.
"I said, 'With all due respect, no,'" he recounts, "just because I really want to build it slowly and make sure it's my own path and not something that's such a good offer that it did all the work for me. I'm not doing this for quick fame. The 10-year deal was a really good one, but I don't know if after five years I'd still want to be doing it. I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket."
That ideal counteracts the criticism that Graham is riding Oakey's coattails. He says the two get along well, calling Oakenfold a "hilarious" friend and good businessman, but says most people don't realize he turned down the easy ride to popularity. So, would Graham call himself Canada's answer to Oakenfold?
"I don't know about that," he replies. "I'm really into a sense of pride from my Canadian fans, but I don't think there's a lot of pride in the Paul Oakenfold story. I'm up for being part of Canada's dance music scene, because these are the dancefloors and this is the country that has built me and that I've learned from." |

| Wicked tracklist! North America needs to start attaching the free CDs to the music mags like they do in Europe. |

that is seriously the first I've ever heard of it! Interesting.
Weird offer!?! I would have to assume this was pre- dance music industry death... hah
Knowing Max I doubt he has any regrets, and he obviously shouldn't. But I wonder if his opinion would differ based on the changes in the scene since then.
Max? I know you're reading! |
