Hi,

i've been roped into doing a 20 min dj battle and i dont want to make an ass of myself as its my first battle. Its on thursday and i got told yesterday but i've only had today and tomorow to sort something.

i was thinking 10 mins hop/hop and 10 mins house.

Any ideas? Also does anyone have the dj intro (the dj booth is conducting a test of the entire system, please to not be alarmed etc etc etc)

any help would be great

cheers

I love dj battles, makes you think on your feet and allows alot of room to show off. As for dj intros they can rock if done right. Try and get some lo played remix's of really famous songs. The Shapeshifters vinal for lolas theme has a really funky remix on it that might be a nice one to throw in for your house set. As for the hip-hop going into house i sugest this really funky public enemy track has awsome baseline cant rember the name off the top of my head but it would be a good transition track. Good Luck

Oooohhh man DJ battles do it for me... Its when you get the chance to see real talent behind the decks. Anyway some of my more favorite things to do is get some locked beats vinyl or something very constant like on the flipside of alot of scratch vinyls I dunno what your beat juggling skills are like but if pulled off they can sound sensational.... Anyway a good intro will do wonders.

Some of my favorite things to do are go around to very old used vinyl shops and pick up vinyls like preaching evanglists and little golden book, books on vinyl. The voices in them make some great samples and there not what everyones heard a million and one times off qberts scratching vinyls, if you have an echo effect that can do a full loop on the mixer then record the voice sample and let it play repeated in time with the beats. Then let that mix into some hip hop or phunky as phuck breakz and go from there with your set... Remember tricks and effects are good but just dont use too much or you will look like a showoff.... and too much scratching gets old really fast

I should really just go and record something myself and post it up here so you know what iam talking about... Good luck anyway man

It got cancelled lol

There was a sandstorm as it was taking place in the desert. I live in the middle east but im from scotland:crazy:

I had a 3 track intro, Deeper Underground - Jamiroquai( just a little bit of it), then war of the worlds - eve of the war, then acapella of foremost poets - moonraker (just a little bit of it) with loops and effects using cdj 1000's and djm 600.

Sounded really good, was very pissed off when they told me it was cancelled:mad:

thanks for the input anyway guys.......
