So Paul Oakenfold is opening for Armin rather than headlining? Sounds about the way it should be :stongue:

30 second review:
Oakie: 11:30-1 AM
AvB 1 AM-3:30AM
Oakie--somewhat disappointing, but, eh, didn't expect much.
AvB: Much harder music than I expected. didn't ID much, except for
remix of Message in a Bottle--Police
closed with Guereyalla--Killa
Justine--Burned with Desire.
AvB hung out after, signing autographs. |

My little review: (sorry no Tracklist, I'm still a newbie)
Got there about 11pm, Liquid Todd was finighing up and Oakenfold was starting. It was already pretty packed, but I was able to get my drinks in record time and take my place near the railing. I had full view of the DJ booth, and the rest of the club. Oakenfold comes on, and he was just ok, It seemed kinda predictable, and ...hello, no surprise that he dropped Traffic in the middle of of his set to wake people back up(seems to be a standard in his tracklist for this tour according to TAs from other cities) The only really exciting moment I thought in his set was the track he was playing when the first cryogenix blast came down..I also felt like he played a lonnnng time(or maybe I was just excited and ready to hear Armin................WHO BY THE WAY COMPLETELY ANNIHALATED ANTRO LAST NITE!!! He started off strong, and just kept giving it to us, harder, and harder--never letting up--(until Burned with Desire)I was dancing the whole time:tongue2 and Armin looked like he was having just as much fun as we were(I LOVE THAT!!)
..My problems during Armin's set have NOTHING to do with him...it has to do with the ASSBAG who decided he was going to use Antro's new horn as his little playtoy and blast it at the DUMBEST and most RANDOM moments in a track. I kept looking in the control booth, to see if I could see the offender and shoot him a WTF CUT THAT OUT look, but I could never locate him. Whoever this person is must die...I was so annoyed multiple times. I cannot be the only person who noticed this. Last rant has probably been said before, but is for all the posers who have no knowledge of the music and just show up for drugs or other random reasons...you contribute nothing to the vibe or the experience of the show, so learn something about the DJ or just stay home. I had a guy come up to me during Oakenfold's set and say: I don't even know who is up there? Is that Tiesto? Another guy was chanting during a buildup in Armin's set "Go Paul Go! Go whiteboy- go whiteboy GO!":whip:
All in all it was a GREAT night. It was worth it even though I only got 3 hours of sleep and had to work this morning...
Till the next show:toocool: |

The Foghorn! I couldn't figure out where it was coming from!
Other peeves:
If you're having a DJ, don't put little tables & couches DIRECTLY IN FRONT of the DJ booth.
The ignorant guy who stood up on the couch to repeatedbly thrust his camera about 2 feet from Paul's face. People say Paul looks sulky--you would too if people did that.
Layout of club is poor for a DJ in general--dance floor is very separate from DJ booth.
Pros:
Blasts of fog were refreshing
Never had to wait long for drink
Line to get in went very smoothly, in within 5 minutes (presales)
Cool movie during Oakie.
It seemed very crowded--I thought more people would leave after Oakie. |
