Sympatico Ultra High Speed + Bittorrent problems

So i got the Sympatico Ultra(crazy fast:crazy: ) and originally i was using that new wireless router/modem they sound out. I only had one computer on it, so it was just acting as a modem, no problems, i was consistantly downloading at 400KB/s using Bitcomit.

Problem:
Now i network two more computers, go through the steps to set it up as a router, forward my ports for Bitcomit, and now my torrents are messed up. I cant get speeds above 200KB/s, and the download rate keeps going up, then down, up then down. When i have Bitcomit open, it also causes my transfers in Soulseek to crash, and gives me time out errors while browsing the web.

Everything was fine, before i initialized the router. If i turn bitcomit off, soulseek and firefox go back to normal.

I am using the SpeedStream 6520 modem
anybody have any ideas?

Wow 400 kBs
I only get 200 tops on Rogers Super High speed.

I use bit Comet too!

The problem is when you add a second machine the NAT resolution is Bottlenecking the Router

When you have one machine it just goes staight through but now that you have 2 machines the router has to resolved each packet and decide which local IP to pass it to!

With bit torrent it is possible you could have 100's of external IP's connecting to your local IP's. Each External IP now has to be resolved on the local end.

My previous router used to crash daily cause it was being bombarded!!

The new Dlink Extream Gamer Router I got allows many mre connections6000 simultaious I think!

Also try and limit your upload to 70% of to ISP Upload which is prb around 700kbits NOT kbytes.

Me I would be happy with the 200 DL
But thats just me. Im not a DL whore!! LOL

thank you so much for your reply!!!

The 200KB/s isnt the problem, its that, that is the absolute max, but it mostly hovers around 40-50. And when you are trying to torrent entire seasons, it can be very slow.

So from your post, i saw that the only possible solutions would be:
1) limit my upload rate? i have already done that, i can upload at a total of about 75KB/s, and i have set it to 30KB.

2) get a new router?

How come this does not happen to more people? i know lots of people behind routers, who just forward their ports, and are good to go.

bobby.. i'm dissapointed - you bought that modem/router combo from bell? ugh.. nothing but problems from everyone i've heard from.

ditch it. fast. get a seperate modem then you can get a good router.

Well the BT speeds are up and down like a toilet seat LOL
If its DVD Content you are after its not worth it.
Soon the new DVD media will be out and they will be 40GIG I think.

So try DL one of them.

Another alternative I have been doing is Rnent and Rip.

The best tool you can get to accomplish this are open source.

I look at it this way I can rent a DVD for 5-6$ and make a 90-100% Quality Rip or DL something for a couple day and not know what I get.

There is a lot o Shyt out there. Just have paitence till it comes out for rental and make a good copy/backup of your original.

If you want to know the tools you can PM me!!!

I'd rather buy the movie for 5-6 bucks off ebay or just download it. The site I use has comments along with the movie so I can see if it's real or not as well as hear about the quality and whatnot.
