Well Jarbs, you're local. Which is cool. Go go PNW producers.
I'm not sure I like your track ...yet. I find it sometimes in trance the melodies get a bit too crazy, and it starts to sound way too much like final fantasy or other video game music.
No lie, the track is pretty well put together. I would give your kick and your bass a lot more emphasis though.
Keep it up.

I really like this track! Just because it doesn't sound like everyone elses trance doesn't mean that it isn't good. 1:08 - 1:35 is my favorite part ,but maybe it should come later in the song? Overall, my #1 reason for liking this song is because not only does it have a good sound but it is very original. |

I'm diggin on the vibe your trying to create here. I love complex melodies. Nothing bores me quicker than a dull 4 chord supersaw progression.
However it sounds like its complex just for the sake of it though. I think you could get the same feeling with less notes and some portamento to get a gliding feeling. The main synth could do with some more tweaking to make it sit better in the mix too. Right now, its way too loud. The percs feel very thin also although that could be because the melody is so dominant.
Structure wise, I think that you introduce the break too early. A longer intro with some gaps in the melody would be a good way to build tension before letting it fully rip. Right now, its just stright into it and I think that causes the arps to loose impact.
Nice work though, the track his a good feel to it and a lot of potential. |

I think you are all absolutely right! Not to dodge the criticism, this song is a collaboration and DJ Straight Face did much of the arpeggio work. But I will consider toning it down. Thank you all so much for the constructive criticism... it's GREATLY appreciated! |

This is more than interesting. Like Axo said, its a very interesting and original way of chord progression, quite complex and I can see you probably spent a lot of time on working on the melody. Cool!
Something needs to be missing I think. Probably its the bass. The bass you got is very sub, if you know what I mean. Probably another (punchy) layer of bass could help.
Anyway, good one, keep it up! :) |
