Experiences with a Korg ER-1, anyone?

I might be able to get my hands on a fairly cheap second-hand Korg ER-1 drum computer, but I wanted to hear some opinions about it before actually getting it.
I am probably going to use it in real-time, just to see whether it can add something valuable to my DJ sets.
Has anybody got any hands-on experience with this device? Or suggestions for an affordable alternative? Thanks!
Same question goes for a Korg ES-1 sampler. If any of you has used one of those before, please share your thoughts.
(Sorry if this is the wrong subforum for a question like this, by the way, but I couldn't find anything related to this subject in the DJ booth) |

er-1 has really cool drumsounds, and you can change the entire waveform over 4 tracks using (virtual) analog synthesis, the others use waveforms. I don't think it is very usefull in a dj-set it's more a producing synth with live - pa possibilities. It's very usefull for electro/techno and other stuff. Don't buy it if you're after standard 909 or trance drumsounds. |

Thanks! Might come in useful.
And I'm more into the techno side of things so that should not be too much of a problem.. |
