Just curious. I hear some good songs that are labeled cheesy by some elitists and purists here. Like. Synysysysysysthesia. How is that cheesy? to some of you guys, sasha is cheesy. Someone tell me how he's cheesy, he's pure awesomeness and a bag of chips or something.

A tune is cheesy if its spun by a Dutch DJ

Producing/playing crap to make $$$... its all been covered before though, you should probably search...
Teraform
In my opinion a song becomes cheesy because of bad lyrics. Example pretty much any Uplifting Trance with lyrics.

Paul Oakenfold is gettin a little cheesy in some of the songs he's produced lately, example his album Bunkka not really a good album.

Marathonman you say anything spun by a Dutch DJ is cheese, im sorry but Ferry Corsten is not Cheese, Punk is a wicked track. System F (ferry corsten) - out of the blue is pure sweetness. All of Ferry Corstens Sets rock, and most of his Singles should be gold.

If it sounds like it is "trying" to appeal to the population of people who don't listen to any EDM.

its simple and bland

typically, fluff is chessy, though there are few, FEW, exceptions to that.

Its a simple, bland song where someone who doesnt listen to much trance music will hear it and go, COOL! I LIKE TRANCE! THIS IS AWESOME!

where as the non-cheesy stuff has much deeper and imaginative melodies and is structured in a way that when you truly listen and get into the song, it hits you harder than any simple fluff cheese can ever do.

cheese is a basic song that tries to make ignorant trance lovers go "weeeee!!! yay trance!" with thta in mind, you can easily see how the bland, fluffy stuff is guilty of this.

When it's trying to be something its not. Instead of coming out sincere, earnest and heartfelt (like it should), it instead sounds lame, hoaky and shallow. Playing the role. Fake. Canned. When you listen to a sad song that is trying to tug your emotions, and you end up creasing your eyebrows and going "good god, this is ing stupid", you, my friend, are listening to a cheesy song.

Exactly what i thought when i saw the video to Ultrabeat - Pretty Green Eyes....

I also thought it when i heard the vocal version of Gouryella - Ligaya.

Project 7
High pitch vocals, non straight singer (only if male), popcorn song type lead synth...

I've found that vocals can make or break a song. I mean, would "Heaven" be as cheesy if it didn't have the vocals? I think so :P
