Hi folks,

Just moved into the 90's with a pair of CDJ100s and was wondering what (if anything) I should bear in mind when using them. I've been stictly vinyl for the last 10 years and was wondering if there are any things I should be aware of when moving to digital.

Thanks,

Rikki

Yeah I don't think there's much to know when you already have ten years on vinyl.

cdj100s are great to learn how to spin cd but you'll sell them fast cause the tempo control step is only 0.1%

Didnt think of that. I'm pretty much skint at the moment and wanted to get into the CD thing. My old tech's have seen better days and the sliders are a bit mucky so I suppose I'll be ok with 0.1% for a while LOL.

One of the reasons for my posting was I'd heard of problems with some CD decks not liking CDR's or CD's with lots of tracks. Is this the case with the 100's? It *seems* to be able to hit the mark on track 16 as well as track 1 but I know from listening to chirping on pause that there is a longer delay the further along the CD you get.

went to Guitar Center to play with a CDJ 800 ...... I felt like it was x-mas ...i stayed in there for 45 min......creating your loops and using the beat cutter and being able to remix on the fly is the . I'm saving everything to pick one up to sit pretty right between my two 1200s

Inertia
well. bear in mind you can't cue as you would a vinyl, rather you have to use the frame search. other than that, be wary of the +/-0.1% pitch increments. when you just can't land the record in the 'sweet spot' for too long, it's not your ear, it's just the deck's limitation, so you'll have to get used to correcting a lot more often than you would vinyl.
Greedy
there is nothing wrong with the pitch on it. Mixing on the cdj100 and even the 500's are on point. You wont be able to leave the decks running in mix for over 3 mins but you dont really need that much of an accuracy if youre somewhat decent of a mixer.
