disappointed w/ armin v b last night should i see him again?

Hi guys, i am really disappointed, last night i went to advent jah - local rave- here in brisvegas australia with the sole purpose of seeing avb play the progressive room.
his set started at 0245 and after seven hours of warm up i think i was a little fatigued. but the sound was distorted at times and the tracks very short (or so it seemed). it started with somthing out of the late eighties (i am very bad with track names)that was kind of unedited!?! it did get better towards the end and became less hard trance and a lot more progressive but all the good bits of for example clear blue water were again run over with distorted thumping beat. oh i am so sad... his set ended with communication.
i guess he can be forgiven as he has a stern schedule given he played at gatecrasher in sydney (i think) before learjetting to adventjah.
i am really disappointed because i didn't hear any of the reasons that i love trance music.
the orb played earlier. they were pretty cool but were not progressive. their set was decidedly dub esque.
hmmm still i had and awesome time despite all this. its just that in australia the opportunity arises fairly rarely to see these kids. i am going to move O/S.
is it right to be disappointed or is it always like this???

| I can see why you would be disappointed...i would be too. Yet, i know if i played gatecrasher the night before i would be pretty fatigued ;) |

yes, i can imagine him being very tired, as he totally 'BLEW THE ROOF OF" IN SYDNEY for the GATECRASHER SUMMER SOUNDS SYSTEM TOUR.
i asked him if he was staying after his set, and he said that he was elaving right away to get to Brisbane, 2hrs after his set in sydney.
sander k as well...thats why theyr were playign @ 3pm and 5pm.which kind od sucked cause it was "too early" i say. i wish he was playing @ 1-3 etc...
but WOW.
he was amazin in sydney
pity u didnt have kool soundsytem!
there is nothing worse than a sh**** sound system.
the bass was crisp in sydney, amazing stuff!!! :)
p.s: howw as the advenjah festival?

I can understand your dissapointment. First time I went to see AVB was at Dancevalley 2001, last summer. I expected a lot of him but it was too crowded, the sound was like a worse echo (it was in a huge tent or how do you say it in english) all the time and it started for me at the 45 min mark when he played perpetuous dreamer - sound of goodbye.
Oh well, despite of that I still am a huge fan of him. Sometimes it's just not there, it's not the right place, not the right sound and not the right 'touch' from the DJ.
Better luck next time mate.

| i totally agree mack. besides, avb's not really that used to touring at this point and time so it's understandable that's he'd be tired. but don't let this experience sour him on his djin' skillz. he's up there along with tiesto, corsten and them for sure imo. :D |

Yup, that's right!
His mixing skills are really phenomenal.
I expect a lot of him at the 20th of december: SS Armin nly at the The Hague.. 6 hours of spinning in the place where it mostly started for him.

wat is dat suppose 2 mean? so ur sayin just coz its a rave, he wont put much of an effort :rolleyes: AVB at the Docks rocked, and it was a rave :) |

thanks kids... you're right. I am feeling much better about it all. I was way tired after 7hrs of dancing when he came on. He definitely got better at about 45-50 min. I am definitely going to see him again and if only it could be a club... raves in halls should have awesome sound. i danced too much in front of the speaker and only today (5 days later) is the ringing gone. i am going to be much more careful bout the ears!! i had to dance close because the sound sucked. In fact to celebrate all of this i am going to see roger sanchez at the gold coast in a club tonight. yayyyyyy!!!!:D :D :D :cool:

Exactly, what is that supposed to mean?! Just because its a rave doesnt mean the djs suck. Have you been to a rave? The music is great! |
