I don't like ASUS boards. My custom machine runs off a Asus P4PE and it's a in' bitch.

Everything else seems great, tho. :)

I'm with Dark on this one. From a friend of mine who is big into systems, it sounds like a nice solid one.
I wish I had the money to build a nice desktop.

running on an asus board currently, it was a little fussy when i added a new hard drive but that was mainly due to windoze 2k lack of drivers for the ata contoller chip on board. My current system although old was fine for intraweb and office stuff but didn't have enuff power to edit video. i wanted a mac but couldnt afford a g5 powermac. :(

i can tell it will be hot inside, u need a thermalright xp120 + 120mm fan to keep it cooler.

video card is craptastic, 3 generations behind
mobo chipset is old and not as good as nf4 sli

other stuff is decent

zalman dont make that good heatsinks. go for a thermalright xp90.
the asus board is a good board. might wana step up the ram from value ram to something with better timings like 2-3-3-6. Seagate make better HDD's than WD. my WD makes very loud noises. get a proper PSU like an Antec true power, dont buy a case+psu combo, the PSU's are low quality, even the antec ones that come with. id personally get a 430W true power. u can still pick up a good case without PSU for a good price.

trying to build a quite budget system thats why i got the sonata and zalman. I looked at the specs and thought it was the same psu sold separately I'm disappointed if they put in a cheap psu. I don't know anything about ram timings maybe u can help me when i get to that point.

if u only use ur PC for microsoft based tasks like explorer and office then value will be fine. but if u push onto graphics or gaming u might need more.

Goddamn right about that one.

PC = constant maintenance, regular anti-virus updates, unreliable windows updates, crashing, freezing, spyware problems, etc.

Mac = freedom.
