Okay, so I work in a restaurant. We had two large groups of Pentecostals come in to eat.. probably 8 or so in each group. Both groups had ~50 dollar bills to pay. So, you'd expect a decent tip right?
No.
One table left 2 dollars and the other one left 1.25 dollars.
I talked to my friend who's a waitress at a restaurant down the road about it. She says the same thing happens to her.
I'm not trying to slander the Pentecostals, but honestly.. wtf? That's how we make our money. Our 3 dollars and some-odd cents don't exactly add up very quickly.
So are they taught not to tip or whatever larger category that would fall under? I'm starting to get pissed and everyone else in the restaurant already has been since they started.
Anybody got any reasons? |

Man that must suck having to rely on tips for a decent wage.
Why don't you have a decent minimum wage over there? :wtf: It seems pretty unfair to me. |

Well, when you're making 50 - 75 dollars a night in tips for 6 hours work.. add about 20 in wages to that number. It comes out to anywhere from ~12 dollars/hr to ~16 dollars/hr.
It evens out quite nicely. And this is just a summer job for me. I'm hoping to get a job at the booming Ruston, LA Chili's when I start school again in the Fall. It's the only restaurant that gets a lot of business there.
I'd much rather be waiting and such making those wages up there compared to working fast food or something like that for $5.15/hr. |
