I'm taking summer courses between my sophmore and junior year at college and one of the classes I'm taking is Classical Mythology. Frankenstein's full title is actually "Frankenstein: Or the Modern Prometheus" so it has a lot of references to Mythology and crap.

I've never read Interview with a Vampire. I'll definitely look into it, though. You should read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. It's VERY different from the movie adaptations (even the movie called "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein").

Interesting tidbit you might not have known: Frankenstein is the name of the DOCTOR (Victor Frankenstein) however you can call the monster by that name too since he's technically the "son" of V.F.

Yes, I've read it this past semester for my Great Works Of Literature class. Great book.

I read it about 5 years ago for school but didnt find it that amazing. I prefered other similar works from the time period, but it also wasn't a terrible book.
