Morillo @ Crobar review

After leaving the circus aka - Spirit, I got to Crobar around 2:45 and they were not letting any guys in untill more chicks showed up. So I waited in line for about 30 minutes and started to get pissed....I was actually about to take the train home and I was walking to the back of the line and I seen this gorgeous chick walking to the line by herself so I asked her if she was going in by herself and she was like "yeah"....that was my ticket!!! So we went to the front of the line and of course they let us walk right in.lol By then it was 3:30 and I know the Bradley Rose list closes at 3 but they still hooked it up....Crobar might be anal about who they let in the door at times but I will say the people that run that place are very fair and have their together.
So I made my way to the main floor and the first person I seen was Jay with his huge afro up front...and from that moment on I had a BLAST!!! Morillo was tearing up!!! So I walked around and ran into my friend Michelle and her friend....went to the bar and got liquored up for awhile and then went back to the floor. Finally ran into Brianna, Mitch, Ruben, Dom and Sayward. We had such a great night. It was packed but you deff had room to dance and get around.
Around 7 something Eric came on the mic and announced that he was buying everybody in the club a shot of tequila when the bar reopned after 8. What a class act...it was so funny seeing all the drunk/cracked out people sucking down tequila at 8am.:stongue: Brianna and myself gave our shots to this one cool ass chick we met earlier in the night...this chick was hard core....did all three shots in a row!!!
Finally Joey (bitchboy) made his way over to Crobar after Spirit closed and he rocked it out with us till the end. I think Eric played untill 10:30. Such a great set....wasn't a time during the whole night were I was bored with the music. Everytime I go to Crobar it makes me appreciate the crowd it brings in. Im so sick of dealing with the horrible vibe at other clubs in the city.
Great seeing everybody out last night.....ill have the pics up tonight.;)
After Crobar, Brianna, Joey and myself went to the beach and kicked back and got drunk all day.....what a great way to end such a great party.:toothless |

I was planning to go to Morillo for weeks but after going to Behrouz @ Canal Room on Thursday, not getting any sleep before a LONG day at work on Friday and then being stuck in traffic for 2.5 hours - I changed my mind. There was no way I was going to make it to Crobar.
or so I thought! :p
Bradley Rose hooked me up with a comp [my broke ass thanks you VERY much, B.R.] and since my girl Sayward was dying to go, my brother was in town for the event AND my best friend Brian had promised to show up at some point...well..I just had to find enough energy to get to the club. once inside crobar i knew erick would take over. ;)
And he certainly did! who needs sleep or drugs when you've got Morillo?? He was better than he has been in ages. His mixing was better also. He didn't play all the same that he's been spinning the last couple of months. He did play certain expected tracks like "So Many Times" and "Avalon" as well as certain UNexpected tracks like "Say Hello" but he also played a lot of funky disco, house classics [music is the answer], deep tribal, hard house and soulful house. Naturally the tribal and hard house were during afterhours.
I was incredibly pleased with his set. I got to the club at 11:30 pm and stayed till close at 10:30 am. Erick came on a little after midnight and I enjoyed the full 10 and a half hour set, from start to finish. As Brian mentioned, it wasn't too packed. The crowd was great - good vibe, good manners. No fights, no scenes, no issues. I had a great time. And my cousin Meredith showed up out of nowhere and surprised the hell out of me - she flew in from Atlanta just for morillo!
The combination of my brother, Sayward, my cousin and my favorite regulars [ruben, rohan, dom, dani, fran, dom, etc] coupled with an awesome DJ who always throws the best parties made for a amazing night! I was so happy I went out! Then Brian and Joey showing up later on made the night complete - a complete success! Great friends, great vibe, great crowd, great club, great music, great DJ!! :D

I wasn't at his last show at Crobar but I did go see him at Spirit two months ago and he didn't play all of the same . |
