Armin @ Glow blew!

wow...I don't think there's a word in the english dictionary to properly convey how I feel about Armin's set last night. Disappointing, terrible, repetitive, boring, old....ummmm the list could go on forever.
What a joke! Before last night, I had him as my #1 favorite dj, and surely thought he shoulda been #1 last year. Now, I wouldn't even put the guy in my top 5. That was the single worst set I have ever heard. I have never booed any dj in my life, but I did last night.
I heard the same tracks I heard back in april & november, and even some from WMC 04. Where were all the great tracks from the last few weeks of ASOT? Hello!? It's summer! How about some of the new summer anthems? The only new track I heard all night was the new Rank 1 - Top gear, or whatever its called.
I am sooo disgusted with AVB right now. I even stayed til the very end, hoping he might salvage the night, by dropping 1 new hot track...but no. Instead he ended with Seven Cities, which would have been awesome, had he played a good set.
Does Armin think we're all idiots or something? That no one would notice he was playing the same old garbage? Does he not think anyone listens to his radio show? There are so many great new tracks out there, and he didn't feel the need to drop any of them. PATHETIC!
Even more pathetic, that might be the last time we see AVB before the voting. Just sad. I guess he's saving the hot tracks for his club nights in Ibiza.
As for Remy, he was ok, definitely played a "warm up set". A little too warm for me, I was looking for a little more energy in the warm up set.
Thank god in 2 weeks we get a healthy dose of Pete & Dan. I am soooo looking forward to Dan's b-day party! Dan, you are now way out in front as my #1 dj! Not sure how the rest of my top 5 or 10 would go, but it certainly won't include AVB.

On a lighter note, Thank you everyone who wished me a happy birthday! Shoutouts to all my fellow glowers: Jimmy, Gerald, Peter, Koon, Nancy, Johnathan, Amanda, Barry, Kenny, Dave, Lauren, Russ, Jamiro, Allen, Brandon, BJ, Alicia, Cougar, Erica, Mike V and anyone else I forgot to mention, I'm sorry, I'm tired from driving home and haven't gone to sleep yet! It was great to see all you guys! And thanks for the shots!

PS. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way either, so don't everybody flame me for my opinion.

I'll edit or add more later!

Most deff weird that he got good reviews in NYC and bad ones from DC. Usually it's the other way around. I didn't know it was your birthday Keith. I feel bad I missed it!!!:(

i'm so sorry to hear that you didn't like his set.
I'm not kissing his ass but i have to say that i have seen Armin 3 times in past 2 weeks in three different cities with different crowds and every time he was different.
Yes he does spin the same tracks but what Dj doesn't?! Give Tiesto some freedome and he will spin Adagio 3 times in a row in the same gig LOL.

But still i do respect your opinion. Thanks for sharing with us.

avb isn't my style and i stopped going to see him because i stopped listening to trance. so i can understand what it's like to get bored at armin.

but not if he's your favorite dj. i am not looking to flame you at all, but don't you think you're being a little bit harsh? one night, one disappointing set is going to knock him off the top of your list? is armin supposed to be perfect? is anyone?

i bet he WAS boring. and i believe that you weren't the only one who thought that. but i think you are too quick to dismiss a very talented DJ who made have had an off night. just my opinion of course.

and one more thing... did you ever consider the fact that maybe it's YOU? and not armin? maybe you are changing, maybe your tastes are a little different. sometimes we grow out of music and sometimes we grow out of DJs.

if you are telling me armin was mixing like and trainwrecking, that's a different story. but if you are saying you just didn't like his set, which is what i gathered, it's merely a matter of preference and not related to skills/talent. so why bash a DJ because he didn't play music YOU liked? he was obviously playing music that HE liked.

sucks that you were so disappointed, though. i hate when that happens. ESPECIALLY when it's one of your favorite DJs. :(

why i felt the need to respond to this is beyond me. i don't even like armin..lol..but somehow i felt the need to write this reply. go figure

its ok bree, I respect your opinion. And I have no beef with Armin's talents as a dj. It's just his very poor music selection last night. He played the same old songs hes been carrying around for over a year. He plays so many great tracks on his radio show. And he's always saying how much HE likes these new songs each week. For him to go out and not drop any of the new summer slammers, to me is like a slap in the face to DC. It's basically saying, I've got all these great tracks, but I don't wanna start wearing them out quite yet...I'll play the same tracks I played last time, people won't notice. Thats just how I feel about it. And for the record, I checked the playlist from Spirit...You guys are lucky! He didn't play any of the good tracks that he dropped for you guys. I'm sure he did rock NYC properly just not DC. Me, you and any other fan are allowed to be as harsh as we want...after all we pay his salary!

Yea thats a shame u thought low of his set at fur. I have to admit he was truly amazing at Spirit the night before...playing alot of the tunes i guess u wouldve liked to here more of at fur...maybe armin just felt like changing it up a bit...one thing ive noticed about armin after seeing him many times...i believe he plays music to make people dance...and i think thats the purpose of music after all.

Anyway...i have to say Remy was one of the most down to earth dj's ive ever met. At Spirit he was hanging out and drinking with us beside the dj booth for alot of the night...talkin to everyone, dancing...and def boozing hardcore- good guy. At least u guys at fur got to hear more of him then some horrible dj who opened before armin at spirit.

yea i feel you on this one sammy, i was surprised that i was able to ID quite a few tracks last night and I havent even kept up with trance in a long time! But one night of disappointment wouldnt make me write off armin just like that. Ive seen him for at least 4 years and not one night has he ever disappointed me.

His set to me was less uplifting, and suprisingly harder than i had expected. Its the trend nowadays with a lot of trance djs and producers in my opinion. The crowd was definately crazy and I dont think there were many nights where there were SO many ppl still goin buck wild past 4 am. The crowd was so intense even i had to step back cuz everyone was showin me up.

Armin was still Armin as usual, rockin the house and always lookin like hes having a good time. I brought a friend out last night thats not really into EDM and she had a blast and was amazed. Ive set aside my pen and paper a long time ago jotting down tracklistings and recording songs on my cell phone to review the next day so I still had an enjoyable night. The best nights to me are when you cant ID anything and that is why i quit tuning into ASOT every week like i used to. It just spoils the fun for me when i see him live.

Had i wore sneakers/jeans, and about 4-5 shots of tequila in me, i wouldve cleared out the dancefloor.

Hmm.. You need to ID your tracks better. He played a bunch of new stuff. Rank 1 - Top Gear was not the only new song. Shivers (Alex MORPH Dub Remix), Abel Ramos - Auquarius (DJ Spoke Remix), Thomas Bronzwaer - Close Horizon. Those are quite new. Heck, @ Spirit, he even played a track that wasn't debuted on ASOT yet, a new Enmass track (By the way, 1/2 of Enmass made an appearance @ Spirit). I agree he played some older stuff. And if you heard it enough times, it is boring, yes. Stuff as old As Crush. But its cool to relive those songs. Especially Seven Cities. Well gotta respect the opinion. Just had to state the fact that Top gear wasnt the only new song he played. :whip:
