hi guys :)
so im looking to buy a beginners CDJ setup this summer, and i need some advice. so im currently thinking of:
2 gemini cdj02s or cfx30s
a gemini ps04 mixer
my budget is pretty limited, although i dont really have an exact number. im using it to play smallish apartment get togethers and to learn. any advice? will good computer speakers be sufficient? if you guys can suggest alternatives thatd be great as well.
thanks.

skip the gemini cd players. save a little more money and pick up something like the pioneer cdj-100s.
gemini makes a good cheap mixer. if you search in the forums you can find the model number. its pretty good for pretty little. |

| computer speakers work fine, I've been using mine for almost 2 years and I don't see a need to upgrade until I have a need for a PA system |

when i tried my hand at mixing CDs, I picked up two used Pioneer CDJ500 MKII's. The classic CD deck. sometimes its been called the "tech 1200 of CDs" because it was nearly that standard.
They are good solid decks and are quite simple. They dont have all the jazz and hooplah of the new decks, so not nearly as complicated. they hold up pretty good too.
I paid a little under $400 for the pair, and one of them even came with a nice carpeted odyssey case.
they are now gone. that sale paid for a third tech1200, which then got sold to pay for more speakers.. lol.
good luck! |

I got a set of CDJ100s last week to learn on. Been using tech's for about 10 years tho. Some people diss the 100's due to 0.1% pitch control but on the whole it hasnt affected me, I can easily spot when somethings going out and correct.

| Ok, heres my suggestion to you... Save up another $100-150 and get a pair of Pioneer CDJ-200's (around $700 for the pair) or CDJ-100 (around $600 for the pair) and a Behringer VMX200 ($99), if you plan on expanding your setup, than get a Behringer DJX700 ($175). DJ Tranz can hook you up with good prices from www.djmart.com, guaranteed not to get scammed since they are authorized dealers. |
