to be honest i think this needs serious debate cos nobody is sure

in the bible jesus christ (dont know what the h stands for UWM) gave out fishes in his miracles, but that sounds wrong to me

i would tend towards fish

It's fish.

Any reference to "fishes" in the bible is likely a result of poor translation by whomever translated from Greek to English or Latin to English (depending on the bible).
Boomer187
it can be both....

has no one else heard of a dictionary...or just dictionary.com

fish
n. pl. fish or fish·es

Actually, I think is kinda interesting. :D

Generally it's "fish" when talking about it as food, but I have also heard the term "fishes" used when talking about living fish. If you remember the PC game "Midtown Madness" from the late 90's, if you crashed into the sea it said "Sleep With The Fishes" I remember.
Boomer187
and we all know all video games use proper english.

what in the name of all things ..

"Fishes" is not the correct word in that context.

He fly fishes for trout, yes.

The fishes are nipping at my pinky toe?

NO. :whip:

well i personally think if you are talking about many fish of one type, then its fish, but if you are talking about many different types of fish, then its fishes

but im probably compeltely wrong
