well, I listened to it on the weekend like I said I was going to.
I'll just give you the rating straight up:
7/10
I was gonna give it 6.5 out of 10 but then just this morning decided that it deserves more than that.
Retrobyte's review was spot on. The songs are original but they aren't too different from each other.
...But I can't help but feel its because of the ordering of the tracks. It just seems like they ordered the tracks in such a way that its too consistent in its sound. I'm also guessing that a lot of tracks are in the same key.
The stand out tracks are:
-What If
-Fix You
-Talk
-X&Y
-Speed Of Sound
-Swallowed In The Sea
-Twisted Logic
It's hard for me to describe this album... it's like a neutral album but at the same time it has some great songs thrown in their.
"Til Kingdom Come" sounded very unoriginal to me which was a disappointment.
All in all, they deserve a 7/10 for this album because they already have 2 perfect albums. It would have been damn hard to get this album perfect.
They have done a good job if u ask me.

Well this "non-review" is actually more insightful than a lot of the reviews in the CD Review forum. |

| I was hoping they would mature their sound at least a little. Nothing like Radiohead, but touches of electronica would be nice. |

I thought that this album did have some electronic elements in it.
"Square One" has some chords which don't sound like they're from a real instrument. They sound a tad reverbed as well.
but yeah they would be considered electronix if the drummer switched to electronic drums. |
