PC's Girl Problem Revisited

Hi all, there was a time last winter when I came to the COR to find some advice on how to resolve a girl problem and you coached me well. I'm hoping to gather some new advice from all of you in my current plight.
The girl's story goes like this - two years ago, she dated Nick, who was best friends with David. They all hung out together and were extremely close. She told me she was as close, if not closer, to David than she was to Nick while she was dating him. Tragically, upon her breaking up with Nick, they ditched her and refused to be friends with her.
I'm dating this girl - different from last winter, different girl entirely - and I really really like her. I do my best everyday to show my affection for her, and she reciprocates. We like each other. Things should be fine.
Lately, she has begun to try to reconnect with Dave since they were such good friends and so close. I was fine with it, since I want her to be happy and want her to be close again with someone she cares about, but I was wary as to why since he ditched her so readily to be popular. The problem is, she brings him up all the time. In fact, it's not even a question of whether or not she does like him; it's more like it's painfully obvious to me that she likes him more than she likes me.
So what does PC do in return? Try to be more confident, try to get her to more and more see the pluses of being with me. It works off and on, but she still brings him up everyday. And more than that, as close and affectionate as we are with each other and as special as she tells me I am, I can't really tell if I am just a summer relationship for her and am not very important. I'm pretty upset and I want to talk to her about it, but if I bring it up, it'll poison everything.
Can anyone tell me what I can do? |

you're going to have to play the chill card, tho.
i say, her. But while you're fukin her, keep in mind that she's a bitch- cuz yeah, although she is with you, she likes some one else.
now, to be honest, she really isn't a bitch, but you can't go off falling in love with some one who won't love you as much.
you need to pick up your balls, throw them behind your shoulder, and treat this girl like meat.
cuz she's gonna ditch you anywayz.
i mean, ultimately what is a relationship?
the end point usually, if all goes well, is marriage.
i dont think you'll marry this girl if all she talks about is some other dude.

well i wouldn't suggest the pink approach hahaha...but it does sound like she likes this dude a lot. you should just straight up tell her...
you know, i really like you and i think we are great together, but this whole obsession you have with Dave is really putting a lot of stress on our relationship. i mean, he ditched you but you still love him. i really care about you, but until you can let go of the past i dunno if this is gonna work. i'm competely committed to you and i need the same in return. |

Back off from her a little bit. Don't call her as much and when you're with her, be a little less talkative. Then get busy. When she wants to meet up with you, you've already got plans and you can't cancel. Don't shut her out completely, but cut down your time with her by like 30-40% or so. It probably won't take long for her to start asking if anything is wrong and the like, which you of course deny.
Now sooner or later this is going to cause one of two things to happen: either she's going to drift further away from you as well, or she's going to start trying harder and harder to get your attention. In the first case, it means your relationship was doomed already (which isn't that bad a thing, really, just move on.) Otherwise, she'll start trying to get your attention one way or another - and you should be receptive to it, but don't just go back to being permanently affectionate and attentive. Only do it as long as she keeps pursuing the task of keeping your attention.
The important thing is that it has to look like you believe that she's "lucky" to have you around, which also means that you shouldn't look like you believe you're "lucky" to be with her. The better you act the part, the more likely she is to believe that she's the "lucky" one.
So don't get too caught up in this whole "David" thing. Focus on yourself. |

dont put up w/ that if she doesnt like you for who you are, let her go easily, but let her go.
