California Quake/Tsunami Warning

EWA BEACH, Hawaii (AP) - Scientists in Hawaii say the Alaska Tsunami Warning Center has issued a regional tsunami warning and watch following a major earthquake off the Northern California coast.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says that based on all data there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
The earthquake occurred off the coast near Eureka with a preliminary magnitude of seven-point-four.
Scientists say some coastal areas in Hawaii could experience small sea level changes and strong or unusual currents that could last several hours.
They say these changes could start happening shortly before 9:30 p-m Hawaii time tonight.
Hope you CA residents are okay and safe. Hopefully no tsunami comes from the quake. :( |

Major quake strikes off coast of Northern California

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. (AP) - A major earthquake struck about 80 miles off the coast of Northern California on Tuesday night, prompting a tsunami warning along the Pacific coast.
The 7.0-magnitude quake struck at about 7:50 p.m. about 90 miles west southwest of the coastal community of Crescent City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey Web site.
A tsunami warning is in effect from the California-Mexico border all the way north to Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
Residents were being evacuated from low-lying areas of Crescent City, KCBS radio reported.

there was a quake around 3.6 soon after near Santa Rosa.

Well thats true. If a suicide wave hit SOCAL, I wouldnt have to worry about swimming lessons or a life vest. It wouldnt matter, I'd be dead! |
