I know it's a little late for this, but does everyone agree with this years rankings?
1. Digweed
2. Sasha
3. Danny Tenaglia
4. PVD
5. Paul Oakenfold
...the full 100 at the dj mag website.
...I like that Paul Van Dyk is consistently near the top. Then again so are the other four. As long as PVD edges PO, I'm good to go. I sense a real headcase in Paul Oakenfold. |

i disagree with the list....they put Tenaglia with PVD ....Tenaglia isnt even a Trance DJ...if they are going to that then maybe that list should have rap djs aswell......maybe i am wrong.....i never once listened to Tenaglia so i cant say much....
Also doesnt that list go by tickets and album sales..MAYBE I AM WRONG...i dont know..but if it does then its a stupid list.....because in my opinion Tiesto is better then Oakenfold...and YES maybe Oakenfold sells more albums and draws bigger crowds that doesnt mean hes is the best DJ only that he is the most commercial...
for an example of tiesto and oakenfold comparison here is the following...
Just because TOYOTA (AKA OAKENFOLD) sells more cars then FERRARI (AKA TIESTO)doesnt mean the car TOYOTA is better then a FERRARI....quality is insanely different.....
this post that i put probally makes nosense what so ever...i gotta stop getting messed up...LOL>.... |

| Ask any of the dj's in the list who they think should be number 1 and most of them will tell you its Danny Tenaglia |

| No the list doesn't go by album and ticket sales.. They are voted by the readers of dj mag. |

| Since DJ magazine basically exists to kiss ass of prog trance and UK house, it's not altogether surprising that all the GU guys cleaned up in a reader's poll. It doesn't have any reflection whatsoever on who's actually selling the platinum records or spinning to the big crowds. |

a) PVD is German, not Dutch.
b) If I'm not mistaken, Ferry is from the UK.
I'm not sure if you were implying your entire top 5 was Dutch, if you weren't then I apologize, but I was just making a little correction.
c) You must also remember this is just from the readers of DJ Mag...nothing else. Just an opinion poll. And " Tenaglia" is not a very intelligent statement, its your opinion but he deserves his spot completely.
The only thing I can agree with you on is Armin...better then Tiesto, Ferry and the whole lot in my opinion.
My 2 Cents.
Peace. |

You people need to expand you horizons a little more! I like Tiesto& AVB too, but to say that they are better that Tenaglia, Sasha, & Digggers is just plain ridiculous. You might not like the style of music they play, fair enough that's your prerogative, but if you can't disassociate that with the skill and talent they display behind the decks, well than that's just plain ignorant.
And to answer the question why rap is not included, it's because most Rap/hip-hop Dj's venture into what's called Turntablism, a completely different genre and it shouldn't be grouped with the norm club Dj.
Trance is by far my favorite style of dance music, but if you people keep displaying the same close mindedness I've seen lately on these forumn's, "Tiesto this Dutch DJ that", the scene will not continue to flourish, only die out! |

I was mistaken. I had a doubt in my mind, thanks for the correction.

| after listening to most of those artists. I must say SKILL WISE, Paul Van Dyk is the best. His ability to seamlessly and intelligentally mix so incredibly is what makes him the best. |

Well said my friend. PVD is the shining price of this art, the art of trance. AVB and Tiesto also deserve more respect. I haven't seen this full roster live, but I'd like to. Then I could get a sense of who can really rock a crowd. I already know both PVD and AVB can. |
