This movie is great, don't listen to the haters. I still don't get a lot of it, but I don't think it's supposed to be crystal clear. Just enjoy the great cinematography and the deliciously dark comedy :D.
I love the part when Donnie is burning down the pedo's house at the same time his little sister is dancing in the school talent show. Great stuff. One the greatest movies of our generation.
Emo?? Trendwhores?? Why is this movie tied in with emo? WTF dude, this movie has blown up not because of some made up trend, but because it is an original well made movie! If you can't appreciate good cinema like this then I would very much like not to meet you.. ever. |

great movie! Saw it for the first time about 2½ years ago. Was very confused at the end because i didnt really got the clue. You really need to pay attention and not miss a thing.
If you already seen the movie HERE you can read the what and why's about the movie.
If you think this movie is hard to understand then try: "Mullholand Drive" :P. Now THAT is one weird movie :toothless |

A movie isnt good because its confusing or makes you search for (or even make up) plot devices. There is a difference between people seeing a movie and having things shown to them and the people not knowing what they are and seeing a movie and not having things shown to them but expecting them to assume thats what happend. Donnie Darko is a great example of the later.
Its also this whole notion that independent movies are better than hollywood movies.
You know what, they both suck. 99.9% of movies are crap. Want a good story? READ A ING BOOK. , comics/manga are even better than movies, HELL EVEN TV IS BETTER THAN MOVIES and thats not saying much because 100% of TV is crap now that the major series are all over with. |

| I think that it was better than most of the steaming stinking crap that Hollywood has been pumping out for the last couple of decades (which admittedly isn't saying much). But I do think it is overrated. By no means would I call it brilliant. |
