well, judging from the tracklist, it looks like that CD is more of a megamix type thing than a 3/4 deck session, but i'm too tired to actually research and see if i'm wrong or right, so we can all consider this argument won by you. |

I'm pretty sure that the intro says Bad Boy Bill and Richard Humpty Vission are using four decks, maybe I heard it wrong! |

yeah, but what i mean is they're used in diff. ways. like X-Press 2 will use 6 decks (of course, but there is 3 of em) or Morillo will use 3 as well, but the mixing style is not the same as Mills. Morillo likes to spin a track, mix another, and layer an acapella in, so he needs 3. i hear BBB likes ot play with 2 copies of tracks, probably acapellas or sampling with another, and mix with another. furthermore, if the CD was mixed by 2 guys, with the fast mixing style the tracklist suggests, i'm guessing they were just mixing at the same time.
Mills's style of techno makes him beatmatch 3 tracks at once, and have all of them playing at the same time. again, not sure if BBB does it this way, havent checked him out much, but from what memory serves, i doubt his style of music employs that kind of mixing. |

Most of the time he uses two turntables, just like Mills. And if Mills uses more than two most of the time, it's kind of sad how BBB does the exact same thing, better, with only two. By same thing I mean mix 40 tracks in 60 minutes. It's not 60 in 60, so what. That's just a gimmick. |

you still don't understand what i'm getting at. even if he mixes as many tracks in the same timeframe, they don't mix them the same way. it just suggests BBB does very short transitions and let's tracks play for little time.
i tried to keep this argument about music, but you did strike me as too lame to just do that. guess i just won't get into it next time. |

I think the best mixer I've seen is Holden. He may not use 4 decks and all that but the guy can really cut up tracks. He's probably the most comfortable behind the decks of all the DJs I've seen. And the purpose is to get lost in the music, not for cheap parlor tricks.
I didn't like Sasha that much with his Ableton. It just seemed like he was switching between basslines all night long. He never played anything with a melody. Just 'here's a phat bassline.. then.. whoa! here's another phat bassline', for 3 hours. I'll admit at the end when his set was ending he played a pretty bad ass vocal song, but it was too little to late at that point for me.
And Aiwendil, man you don't have a clue. You strait out say that he has "the mixing of Mills without all the mistakes". Then you deny even comparing the two. WTF??!! It was an obvious stab at what Inertia was saying and then you found yourself in the horrible position of arguing with him. Unfortunately for you he knows what he is talking about and you do not, that was bad, sry for you. :haha:
