well, if you're after music not even written in a 4/4 timeframe. i'm pretty sure there is. plastikman has quite a few experimental records that aren't. |

Yeah, thats what i meant. Non 4/4 time signature. You know of any specific Plastikman record? |

Most music is made in 4/4 time, thats why it's called Common time. You're probably thinking of "four on the floor" style rhythms, where there's a beat on every quater note in 4/4 time. As you know house and trance usually follow the same rhythm pattern with a kick every other beat and a sugary hi-hat inbetween every beat.

Just cause it's in 4/4 time doesn't mean it's going to sound like that. If you're after some more breakbeat influenced stuff check out Kosheen, Caigo, 4 Hero, Dom & Roland, Tech Itch, Facs & inc, Freeburning records, Metalheadz, Omni Trio, etc....
Drum n bass/jungle is usually made in 4/8 time.

plastikman - afrika/hypokondriak
afrika, as far as i remember is quite rhythm based, but quite unmixable if i recall. hypokondriak starts out like a 4/4 record, but the repetitive sound begins to degrade and echo off itself, making it impossible to mix with a 4/4 as well (unless you'll correct the pitch accordingly throughout the entire tune).
i doubt these are the best examples, ill check for more hwne i get home. |
