Nomen Nescio - Mesmerize (NEW Uplifting Trancer)

Nomen Nescio
Hey dear trancelovers and friends I know from here,

It's been a while since I have posted a new track on this forum. Have been busy on developing my sound and reading a bit on mastering here and there. For the rest I did not have any inspiritation or stamina to finish a track until this week :) I guess every producer must recognise this haha.

Anyways, my new track is again an 1999/2000 type of uplifting track. Even though I immensly like trance of nowadays I just for some reason keep making the more traditional oldskool trance. I am very pleased with the result and especially with the full sound and the sound quality. I hope you will enjoy it as well. Please let me know what you guys think.

Hey Nomen, just checked out your tune. Love those big synth stabs at the start. Progression of the melody is very subtle and works pretty well.

Overall, it kinda feels pretty standard uplifting style trance but like you say, with an old skool feel to it. The melody could do something more though. The way it resolves leaves nothing to the imagination. The way it drops out and comes back in at 6.30 feels right.

One criticism... the sweep fx at 3.54 sound like a preset or something. I'm sure they probably arn't and they work well, but they just stood out at me for some reason. Anyway, I'm being nit picky ;)

The mastering is really very good. I've been doing a lot research on that myself and yes, it is a very convoluted process. I feel your pain =)

Thanks for the reply and you are not being nit picky, you have heard it very correctly it is a preset ;) I do not use many presets but this sweep fx just does it for me haha. So you heard it correctly! GUILTY haha.

Glad you like the mastering. It is my own little blend of various mastering tools and for some reason this worked out really nice.

Cheers!

thanks mate! I am also very happy with the kick and the bass. Best ones I used so far. And in my opinion this track is better than Bright Light (bl) ;) Thanks for your comment mate!

Thanks mate! Looking forward to hearing it in a set of yours! Glad everyone likes the mastering of this track :) Too bad not a whole lot of people care to react this time. I think this track is just as good as bright light.

Yes it does ;) perhaps not on your pc? But here it works just fine. Cheers mate!
Subtle
listening...

greeat beginning, great conga loop. bass could be better i think, phat open hats, my favorite.
great synth introduced there.. more hats, like it..

some Orange Theme similarities i hear, good synths, although seems like the bass and melody is fighting abit with eachother.. yeh, and the bass seems a bit too drowned.. a second breakdown, with more elements added, im not sure i like all those strings..

overall ok production, just dont feel the bass.. and there is a little bit too much hi end going on i think..

6.5 cheers ;)

- as far as bass goes, i pretty much agree with subtle. you need to make is stronger, maybe layer the synth or add another bass melody. make the bass more poignant, so that it has bottom and and still pierces through the mix. look in tracks like: Technique - Sun is Shining (Mash up Matt Mix) and L.S.G - Netherworld (Oliver Prime Mix)
- melodies sound great!
- i like the breakdown and buildup, with those percs/hats in there
- that snare roll sounds good, not too simple and not too overblown
- as far as the sounds go, i'd make lower the cutoff frequency all all the synth is the main parts and give the main lead a more 'square' then 'saw' sound, but that could just be more of what my style is

Pretty well made tune, although nothing groundbreaking (what is these days?), I like the leads. Bass could do with being slightly louder.

8/10

(Scale: 0 = don't bother, 1-3 = needs work, 4-5 = nearly there, 6-8 = releasable, 9-10 = I'd play it)
