**HOW TO HOST ON YOUR OWN MACHINE WITH WINDOWS XP**
Thought I would share did this late at night so if there's anything wrong let me know lol cheers
1) Goto your control panel -> click add/remove programs
2) Click add/remove windows components
3) Check Internet information service (double Click on it for more options) -> click next, let it install (make sure you insert your windows xp cd)
4) Right click your taskbar -> choose properties -> start menu tab -> click customize -> advanced tab -> scroll to the very bottom system administrative tools -> click display on all programs menu - click ok and so on
5)start -> all programs -> administrative tools -> click internet information services
6) click + beside computer name, then + beside websites - right click on default website -> properties, this is were you can configure your site (best to leave it as it is), only setting you may have to play with is the IP address (if behind a firewall/router assign your webpage your ISP ip address, if your typing in a 192.168 address wont work)
7) Now go to your C:\Inetpub\wwwroot -> this is your websites directory - the main page of your website has to be named index.htm, also what every you wanted displayed on or downloaded off your site must be in this folder as well.
8) open internet explorer -> type http://youripaddress, your page should be displayed |

| Rico the Abyss web server is amazing stuff. The only bad is that you must read help contents first to understand some things.So..it isn't for lazy people :) I can't realize yet why you wrote for no-ip.com.Is ther a connection between these programms? |

| Careful when hosting from your own machine! You are opening yourself up for an attack. I would just find an online service, there are tons around. |

Aquarian wrote about download.com that allows 192 kbps.
Yes it's true and it's really a cool site with quality music but you can have only 50Mb.That's means only 5 or 6 tracks :sadgreen: |

Hey guys. Here I am again.I continue this topic because I have some...experiences about uploading or hosting.
Download.com and dance-industrie.com are very cool sites but you have to wait for approval.Does anybody knows how many days?
Hosting is....science you have to work a lot of hours to have good results:sadgreen: and for me is more important to spend my time in producing;)
Also I found a site called livehotbands that they said that you will be paid for each track that people download.(0.70 sents).
I'm not into it yet but when I'll exlore it I'll inform you again;)
Stay in touch trance maniacs.... |
