Ferry Corsten @ Emerald City review

Got there at about 11pm and at that point I think Porter was on stage. And as far as an opening dj is concerned, he was really laying it down... didnt hold back at all. Ended up seeing AJ and his brother, DJ Slantzz, PVDream, and a few other TA's. Great seeing you all again and meeting the others.
As for Ferry, he rocked it. I like the tunes that he played but to be honest it seemed like he was trying to throw in as many "hot" tracks as he could with no real order or reason. Understandable, given the short time he had to perform. The sound system was alright but that room seemed smaller then the room Sasha played in so when we left my ears were just killing me. (Luna, I'm definitely getting earplugs!)
Went with a few friends, my girl and brother. My 2 friends left early. He is calling me later to tell me why. My roomate and brother ran off and did their own thing and I chilled with my babe. :) I am just really happy for my brother because he is only 17 and was able to get in under special circumstances. Ferry Corsten is his favorite dj so it was awesome for him to experience his first real clubbing experience with his favorite and he told me he had an awesome time.
We left at around 2:45 because my girlfriend wore me out! Yes, I was the party pooper of the night. She had never been to a club with a trance dj either and she loved it. (A week before hand I told her it basically wouldnt work if she didn't like EDM) :haha:
All in all it was a great time. Glad Ferry could make it out for Philly, cuz we really needed something like that.
Hopefully I will see you guys at Crobar July 8th! :) |

Yeah Ferry is known to play alot of popular tracks in his short sets. I think he will be much better at Crobar because he will have time to space those tracks out....I love it when Ferry rips it with uplifting for an hour or so and then goes straight into that sick electro stuff.
thanks for the review dude;) |

yea ferry was in awesome, as was the opening dj whoever he was, however emerald city was the biggest pile of horse i have ever been so unfortunate to step on. i wasn't crazy about the sound system at all, the bouncers were inhuman s, and after 2, since i'm under 21 i wasn't allowwed to leave the main dance area to go to the bathroom, get water or buy a red bull????!!!! wtf?! i left a little bit after that, just because i wanted a freaking drink. i've never heard of such nonsense!! the rest of the club from that point was 21+, fine... but what reason do they have to refuse me to in hydrate myself!! lol.
but on much more positive note, like i said, ferry did tear up, although i can agree with the whole comment about the power-trax or whatever...
the crowd was actually much cooler than i had anticipated, especially being for philly.
overall, it was a pretty descent night, aside from the bull i had to put up w/ from the club of oz. |

| I ended up getting there around 11:30 becuase i had to drive after i found out that the Septa trains weren't running for some reason from Trenton to Philly. EmCity was alright, better than i expected. The crowd was also decent. Met up with my bro and a bunch of other people we were with. Porter was playing some good house. Ferry def layed down a good set, the vibe was good and he was very much into it. Ferry and Armin bring so much energy that it's hard not to like them. Good seeing Jenn, Kim, Janelle, Regina, and meeting thier crew. Tune of the night was INERTIA:crazy: :eyespop:  and Tyas's brothers song. I took some pics, i'll put em up later. I ended up driving back to Jersey right after the club closed and had work at 11am, how do i end up doing this every week:disbelief |

Sick night...pappas, porter, and ferry ripped it up. I figured Ferry would play alot of his usual tracks (Punk, R.Y.B.R., Its time, I love you, right of way...) but still he brings so much energy its always a treat to see him.
I absolutely lost it when ferry dropped my bro's new track "Mirella" i gave him...one of the last tracks he played.
Good to meet some other ta's and even redeye finally. Now back to recovering...pics later. |

I had a great time last night. Ferry rocked it! Nice meeting some TAs too. He played a ton of songs I knew and some great ones I didn't. It was a great mix.
Songs I recongnized:
Force of Gravity
Synthnasia
Out of the Blue
I Love You
Rock Your Body
Adagio for Strings (encore)
And cheers to Emerald City. The sound system was not overbearingly loud like at other clubs. The only thing that annoyed me was that I couldn't take my drink onto the floor.
Overall a solid concert. |

possibly one of the greatest thursday nights in my life.
left home around 730, got to the club @ 830, left @ 430 or thereabouts.
Mark, Steve, Ferry. THANKS!
You made me very happy :D
Man, some great ch00ns were bangin out of there.
Took lots of pics and vids, which (along with my review) will be up on Monday. Unfortunately, my camera's mic is really sensitive and the bass usually causes bad distortion. Even this time, with my thumb over the mic, it's still really hard to hear the music.
Excellent graphics! I'm gonna have to get that prog for my PC.
heh i love my 12" shirt.
My bag finally dried from all the alcohol, orange juice, and melted ice that it was soaking up under the table :haha:
Which reminds me, if whoever drank all of that first bottle is reading this, you're an ass.
And wtf! Ferry signed my headphones. I was just showing them to him and before i realized it, he's handing them back to me signed.
Great work by the event managers and DJs.
My first time clubbing in Philly and it was a BLAST!
Thanks again. :) |

i see people wearing earplugs sometimes...doesnt it distort the music really bad? although i guess thats better than going deaf at 50 cuz ive woken up with my ears still ringing on WAY TOO many occassions... :nervous:
kadomony - why would ferry wanna look at your headphones?? |

| Why the would anybody be wearing headphones inside a club anyways......unless they are the friggin DJ of course. |
