....if it's possible to get a good free website?
My friend and I want to make a site, but I dunno if I really want to do it through Geocities:confused::whip: ....can I have one thats like www.(insertnamehere).com and not have to pay anything?
If someone could help me out and give me some advice, I'd REALLY appreciate it! Thanks sexies :D :)

Hey here is some stuff to start you off...
go to Aplus and register a domain name. They have a domain search thingy that will see if the domain u want is taken. If not, you can register it online with a credit card.
Once you have your domain registered you need webspace to host your webfiles. I use NXserve, and I havn't seen the server down once.
you can get their basic setup for 6.99 (us) monthly.

The domain you will have to pay for unless you want to go through a DNS free host. These companies give standardized domain names for free.
Then for your webhosting there are free ones to but they all require some sort of advertizing banner on your site.
Just google free web hosting and you should get wheat you need.
You should be abble to get something half decent for $10 or less per month.
But what is wrong with Geocities for you purposes??? |

Nothing is wrong with Geocities.....I used it before, but iunno, I guess I just found it difficult for me to use (probably because I am partially computer illiterate), but I guess you have to know a thing or 2 to make ANY website! And thanks for your help! :)

| Try out MSN spaces... i dunno, that's what I use... :) You go by there all the time girl! Check it out, it's really easy to use, you don't need to know anything about web-hosting... which I have no patience to learn... :) |

James your msn space site is AWESOME! Thats why I go there all the time :p
I gave up on making the site anyways lol...I have no patience for that stuff...the closest I will ever get is faceparty or livejournal ;)
...post some pics of your trip up on TA!!!! :D

I can give you a free website (assuming you're not going to whore bandwidth or storage, reasonable (small) amounts permitted). Your choice of subdomain (examples: meatkatie.tohost.ca) or register your own domain (meatkatie.org). PM me and I'll set you up.
If you're looking for someting more robust - check out my hosting company: http://www.tohost.ca or http://www.cahost.ca ($5.95 or $8.95 / month hosting packages). The packages have site-studio which can help you if you're not familiar with html. Domain registration is only $5.95 (with hosting package). |
