| Yeah I can understand it. OK Computer is an awesome album, it was the 1 that got me to like em in the first place. |

off the top of my head i'd say that these can compete for best album of the last 20 years on a lot of levels...
in no particular order...
Aerosmith - Get A Grip (1993)
INXS - Kick (1987)
U2 - Auchtung Baby! (1991)
Michael Jackson - Bad (1986)
Michael Jackson - Dangerous (1991)
Phil Collins - No Jacket Required (1985)
Genesis - We Can't Dance (1990)
Madonna - Bedtimes Stories (1994)
i could keep naming more and more...but you get the idea...these albums were huge...just as huge, if not more so then Ok Computer...and really that is just a very small section of the eighties and nineties... |

I'm going to have to go with rolling stone on this one.
i was totally obsessed with Ok Computer, and it wasn't even the fact it was radiohead that made me get that CD. Their theme music to a movie (exit song) #4 on their album.......i watched romeo and juliet (with leo decap), and as those credits went up and that song played. Didnt know who they were, or what was going on. But it touched me. Hell, just last night i was playing Karma Police on my guitar

yeah, i mean, listen, no matter which cd was picked by rolling stone, anyone can find a bagillion cd's that are up to par or better.
in my eyes tho, ok computer is worthy of being in the top 10 albums in the past 20yrs.........#1 album?
the only way you could calculate that would be WHICH ALBUM SOLD THE MOST COPIES?
but even that wouldn't signify it was the best musically.

Rolling Stones used a panel comprised of their own writers and editors, as well as 50 of music's notable names ranging from Moby to Slash to Gwen Stefani, similar to how they picked The Top 500 Albums (xxxx-2003). Record Co. executives, music historians and other formally knowledgable people were also consulted.
Each person was asked to rank their top 5 from the time period. First place received x number of points, second place received x-1, etc. Quite an interesting procedure, but a very fair way to do it. |

I'll agree w/ 'OK Computer' as I still play that album to this day & use certain sounds from that LP as some of my ringtones.
But I usually hate those lists, cause there is sooooo many diff. genres, you cant really choose an album from 1 genre that could influence music as a whole. |
