Rack-Mount Synths = Rack-Mount Servers?

I'm wondering if "rack-mountable" synthesizers, EQ's, etc. are equivelent to rack-mountable servers; as in, would you be able to take a rack-mount synth and mount it in a server/network rack? Are the dimensions the same?

I do strictly software-based producing currently, but I was thinking that if I did decide to get some hardware, it would be nice to use the server rack I already have which I use to hold my networking components for my house.

Just wondering...

yeah, same thing, 19 inch.

However serverracks are not nice looking, and do not take into account gratuitous front panel editing ergonomics.

Actually the rack I have is a basic rack, it's not a full cabinet or anything. It's very simple and looks fine; it should be very practical I would think.
