I don't like that guy either Jay...he's an f'ing bully basically, i agree with you on that...every time I see him talking I like him less and less...besides I don't see how all these concerts will make any difference...raise awareness...well maybe...mostly people are going to see the free show ...and the artists are using this for their own promotion...no matter how noble the cause everyone "wins"...except the people that this whole hoopla is directed to...(the poor people in Africa)

yeah we got screwed. jann arden is a brilliant example of how CANCON rules benefit those who would otherwise never (rightfully) make it anywhere. LOL

Shows you how everyone really looks at us when it comes to the world stage.

lol...DUUUUHHHH...

We have our local artists basically and that's it...and it's not like "we got" that show...but that's what our promoters managed to organize ;)

Im all for homegrown talent dont get me wrong. But the venue compared to others is an embarrassment and the acts are geriatric appealing. At least get homegrown talent that would draw a fun crowd.
PartyHarlequin
Tom Green is hosting it... I'm sorry but as funny as he maybe once was, his antics are history. No one cares and he's not terribly bright (or doesn't appear to be). Canada does produce some amazing talent but they all realize quite quickly that if you want to be taken seriously Canada is not the place to be. It's sad too our politicians and their middle ground, quasi socialist ideologies have made us appear useless and comical time and time again. We can't keep taking stances like the one we took with the war in iraq. The "we are not going to get involved" because our ideology is to oppose it but our ties to the US force us to stay silent. At least if we had thrown in with the Pro War US and Britain it would have shown some ballz.

True...the venue is small and crappy

And what PartyHarlequin said is true too...well the first half of it at least for sure!

I can't believe the whiners from Toronto, including Comrade Miller and the Toronto Red Star, complaining about the event being held in Barrie.

Where would Live 8 be held in TO?

1) Downsview air base: is a proven money loser and can't yet hold large events (governments have to pay millions to support events there)

2) High Park: too small

3) Centre Island: too small and too inconvenient
Jayx1
Downsview park is government owned is it not? So why shouldnt the government provide this space for it?

why cant they pay some farmer to have it in a field somewhere like they do up north?

Btw Geldolf can off. Basically he wants leaders to do what he wants without question. That is not how things work buddy... Its the leaders that make the agenda. Thats what the G8 is for.

it's kinda sad that people can't be applauded for their good intentions.

whatever happened to having the strong protect the weak? I know it's a little shortsighted but hey, it's a start.

Have you seen this guy telling leaders to come and support his idea at the G8 or they are not welcome?

Im thinking excuse me Geldolf. Who invited YOU? The G8 is for the leaders of the G8. They are automatically invited. They dont need some arrogant ass telling them they arent invited. His tactics arent going to earn him any credit in my books.

Im with Martin when he basically said in a diplomatic way that Geldolf should shut the up.
