ths US engages the enemy and does its best (tho in war no situation is perfect) to avoid collateral damage. the insurgents blow up civilians DELIBERATELY. gee, let me think, is there are difference?

like i said no difference. you write of intent but you really have no knowledge of what the intent is of the US and coalition army or the insurgents do you?

it is often the case that insurgents target US soldiers and their allies (the iraqi soldiers) and civilians get caught in the crossfire. they are, as you wrote, collatoral damage. again no difference.

no, i wouldnt know specifically about intent, but i do know that the US\' role does not include the desire to blow up marketplaces, police stations etc with a SPECIFIC goal of murdering civilians. thats enough of a difference for me.

there is a fundamental difference between how nations & freedom fighters/terrorists/insurgents conduct themselves in modern conflict. if you disagree, i suggest you so some reading.

The terrorists in Iraq have been known to blow up mosques, funeral processions, market places to incite civil war between the Shias and the Sunis. It is not collateral damage.
