A long while... and how is that a "problem"? 350W power supplies are standard these days. I know people who have as much as 600W running their systems.
And as far as the purpose behind this new card is concerned... if you've seen the tech demos for some of the new games coming out over the course of the next year or so (Unreal III, Unreal Tournament 2007, FEAR, etc.), you would know that there is a desperate need for this kind of technology. Computer games are advancing by leaps and bounds... and consumer-level video cards are barely able to keep up.
I currently run a 6600GT AGP with 1GB of PC2700 and a 2.4GHz Athlon XP. I can run any game out there at 40-60FPS constant on full detail settings I will probably put two 6800s into an SLI configuration in my next system with an Athlon 64 and 2GB of PC3200... which would outperform this new card, but not by much. |

That was pretty much the price of the GF3 when it first came out. Latest technology is always excessively expensive. Now I laugh at everyone who bought at GF3 for 600$ because I waited just one year and got it for 100$. :tongue3 |

350watts wouldn't be enough to power those Geforce 6800series cards, You need a minimum of 480 watts on a power suply to power those cards. The new 7800series cards require a 400 watt power suply, But in order to be able to use those in SLI mode, It requires a minumum of 500 watts. |

hardware geeks are the worst kind. Who cares, as long as ur ing computer runs decent, has enuf space for music and you can see the on ur screen, i dont see the need to makeup for self esteem in computer parts. On the realz, some people need to look at life with a broader perspective than the computer at which theyre sitting at, then again to some the computer is their life so maybe thats why. |
