I just graduated with a BS in Mechanical engineering.

first call from job I told them about grad school and she was like peace out!

second call(today)she sounded like such a bitch but I got an interview setup.

WTF you go to job fairs and have good convo with these HR people and love you and all and just when they make that darring call for the poeple they have intrest in they treat them like !

any advice for my interview monday!

also..I passed the FE or EIT exam with a 73!!! you need a 70 to pass.I got the letter sent to me on my BDAY. I guess all I need is a job for four years and then I can take the PE exam:nervous:

this friend I knew got a 69 on it. Imagine 200$ down the drain due to 1 point failure.

why'd u mention grad school... they'd prefer to have people there LONG term. if you have immediate plans for school within a year or two, they'll just look elsewhere

in most companies they stick the people that have the least amount of knowledge in the HR department for recruiting. they usually just pick the pretty faces so they go out to the job fairs. interviews are usually different.

lol, I know at teh casinos here in vegas they don't waste any money on them. I know a few of them and they are no slouches. Its just that people don't really look at teh big picture of the whoel hiring process.

You need to find out exactly what they are lokoing for and you need to market yoruself for that. Too many people just get a degree and say take me as I am. No. find out what they want, emphasis that in your resume and dress and act professionally.

that is if you want a job. Most people dont so they don't try too hard ;)

good luck

yeah, all I need it some exp and then that will go along way. Even the highest paid engineers of today started somewhere but 30-40 years ago jobs were 100% easier to get out of college

job fairs dont mean . you need to know someone in the hiring department to increase your chance of an interview. entry level candidates are a lot easier to find so you need to polish your resume and hopefully get a lot of intern and co-op experience in college to have a chance. otherwise you are no different than any other graduate trying to get an interview.
