i saw this on cable yesterday but wasnt able to get a full quote until today
quote:
But Rumsfeld told the senators: "You sense the American people are tipping away from support. I have a feeling they're getting pushed, myself."

He said he was confident support would rebound. "If we tell them the truth and provide the right kind of leadership, by golly, they'll support a worthy, noble goal," he said.

I watched a portion of the testimony, it was amusing. He kept saying that Leahy or someone on the Democrats' side was agreeing with him, but he wasn't.

^^^Hell yeah.

A friend of mine told me he was resigning or something along those lines. I guess they probably found documents linking him to the Abu Gharib torture and prison abuses (I read on BBC and elsewhere that it was a direct order from him).

Congress wants a scapegoat and Rumsfeld is easy pickings before them. As much as Congress hates it, they hate to admit to the fact that we're in a protracted war with no end in sight. They should at least be thankful the front is in Iraq instead of the US. Would hate to have daily suicide bombers at the Wal-Mart...
