History continues to repeat itself

Guess who said this:

quote:
"Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

Here, lemme quote that last part again:

Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

Okay, here's the source:

http://www.snopes.com/quotes/goering.htm

Now, compare that to this quote:

quote:
"Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers," Rove said. "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war.... Conservatives saw what happened to us on 9/11 and said we will defeat our enemies. Liberals saw what happened to us and said we must understand our enemies.... No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals,"

Who said this? Why King Carl, of course!

Anyone noticing a slight parallel yet? Appealing to patriotism, calling anyone who opposes traitors, appealing to danger at all turns,

hmmmmm.....

And yet our wonderful President and his minions of talking head radicals continue to support such commentary 100%. Boy, it sure is a nice way to reach across the aisle and continue to bring the country together, ain't it?

What's more, the RNC put out similar talking points yesterday on how the Dems. "blamed America" for 9/11:

http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=49356

And finally, I believe the RNC released a new attack web ad going after Dick Durbin and his commentary on the torture of Gitmo prisoners just yesterday.

This is called a coordinated attack, and it occurrs only at a time of desperation when the President and his GOP minions are sinking like a ing ship in the polls (Gallop, Rasmussen, Zogby, you name it). If there's any Dems. out there that are surprised by this coordination - don't be. There were warnings of taking the attacks onto the Democrats about a month ago, and it came to fruition. It's utterly ing pathetic regardless, but again, this is what occurs when a party becomes desperate and needs to once again drive a wedge down America to distract us from the ing debacle everywhere else.

That's my Bush!

Added in Edit: Also just noticed the Flag Burning Amendment here:

Wow, another coinkidink, huh? Funny how timely this appeal to patriotism Amendment comes out, ain't it?

History repeats itself because that's the nature of how people are, and it'll never change. There's been 'social' progress since the dawn of time, but no changes in human mentality whatsoever. There was a lesson to be learned in world war 2, and no one learned it.

It's called his story for a reason. Err, I mean history.

Shhh. He can't stay away. He's a member of Political Forum Regular Anonymous along with TranceGiant, Arbiter, and Izzy. They pretend as if they have better things to do, but really they're watching us all the time, posting when the urge grabs them.

I'm glad to see that the major news networks are finally carrying a story like this.

Unfortunately, Fox is still referring to it as "Democrats whining about Rove".

Good post.

He probably does have much better things to do, but the Political Forum calls his name and he can't resist the temptation. ;)
