Where exactly did you read that the whole block was complaining? Other than the article's traditional spin with mystery words like "residents", I don't see anything to indicate that these complaints are coming from anywhere other than this one whiney crank.

Her complaint is VALID.

Ahh... there's a word for people who complain about every illegal act that other people commit - they're called rats.

Her complaint is valid? Tell that the the people in the apartment building that will be sweating their asses off thanks to this whiney loser.

She should move far far away from noise (civilization)

Gotta love north america. Where you can complain and bitch about everything you want to.

Now sure, she can legally complain about it.. but I just think all she needs is a good ass ing so she can shut the hell up.

You can't compare this to the situation with the people who moved next to a golf course at all.

The residents aren't retarded. If it goes beyond the legal limit then YES do complaint!

+1

there's regulations about noise levels.
Pettiscool
i also think her complaint is valid assuming its as loud as they make it seem which it probley isnt

So on an aside, if I blasted a really fat dookie, could I technically get fined for violating the noise bylaws if the neighbours heard it?

Like we need everyone in the city to exceed the regulated noise levels in the city.
Give me a break!
Buy an A/C that isn’t as loud. If this is not possible.. Oh well. Screw the people in the apartment building. Move out! If the lady BOUGHT a house in Toronto, then she should be given her proper rights as a TAX payer. If she is renting and can get that A/C shut off, good for her.

Why would you welcome excessive noise?

no, but if you would do that 24/7 then it becomes a problem.

But everything is excessive these days. People whine and bitch about so much that im sick and tired of it. Ive never heard an air conditioner that was ear piercingly loud. Loud enough to interfere with the chirping of the birds? Maybe. But the fact is that in a city you are closer together than even the suburbs. Therefor smaller noise will be heard by neighbours. Thats what cities are all about. No one should ever expect garden tranquility in the MIDDLE OF A CITY. At best maybe a surburb but id even argue that a country estate is where one should go to find that tranquility. NOT THE MIDDLE OF DOWNTOWN TORONTO.

There is even a lobby afoot to try and restrict streetcars to certain hours due to noise. Like WTF? How long have street cars existed? 250 years maybe? And suddenly its an issue just because some dimbulb in 2005 rented a place on a streetcar line?

Sorry but these dumbasses need to move away from the city and that will solve everyone's problems.

The grass is always greener.

People are gonna complain wherever they go if they feel it is legitimate.

I love the city but I think only because my parents live in a small lake-side town in the Niagara Region that's unbelievably quiet and low-key. And what do I do when I go visit? I bitch about just that.

Gotta find your niche I guess.

True...some people aren't happy unless they're complaining (not you Irishaddict ;))...

Are people forgetting this is a HUGE A/C for a building or something??
I could only image the amount of noise an industrial sized A/C unit for an entire apartment must emite when I know the level of noise my own personal unit does...:nervous:
Let's use some common sense people; I'm sure the person complaining is the only one who has balls enough to actually say something.
Most people are a little too complacent in situations because they don't want to be appear rude.
Obviously this must be a legitimate concern...
