:wtf:
Cigarettes, according to China's tobacco authorities, are an excellent way to prevent ulcers. They also reduce the risk of Parkinson's disease, relieve schizophrenia, boost your brain cells, speed up your thinking, improve your reactions and increase your working efficiency.
Pay no attention to those lung cancer warnings - they're nonsense. You're more likely to get cancer from cooking smoke! Those are the words of wisdom from China's state-owned tobacco monopoly, the world's most successful cigarette-marketing agency. With annual sales of 1.8 trillion cigarettes, the Chinese are responsible for nearly 1/3 of all cigarettes smoked on the whole planet.
The official website of the tobacco monopoly claims cigarettes are a kind of miracle drug: solving your health problems, helping your lifestyle, strengthening the equality of women, and even eliminating loneliness and depression. “Smoking removes your troubles and worries,” says a 37-year-old female magazine editor, quoted approvingly on the website. “Holding a cigarette is like having a walking stick in your hand, giving you support. “Quitting smoking would bring you misery, shortening your life.” Such statements are widely believed in China.

ok theres a few notes that i can probably agree with except for the no-lung cancer one
the working better part for one - the ciggy break concept makes workers happy and more relaxed when they get back to the desk and reduces stress levels and hence hinder schizophrenia
the fact that they restrict oxygen supply means your heartrate increases marginally to cope with the reduction of oxygen - which is possible when it comes to increasing brain thought process etc
i still have my doubts about that report though |

maybe im misunderstanding, but wouldnt the decrease in oxygen to the brain put the person more at risk for trauma if the brain and body isnt getting enough oxygen to live |

Sorry to bust all your bubbles, but the Chinese government doesn't say this. "Big surprise." I'm holding in my hand a pack of cigarettes that has a Chinese version of the same warning.."smoking kills, causes cancer..blah blah blah etc." And there are anti-smoking adds here, the works. Chinese nic gum, yeah. China has so many smokers they are trying to raise awareness towards it's health concerns, they are even making some public places non smoking environments finally.
But yeah. Hey, again sorry to be all serious and tell the truth here :p
